西安音乐学院坐落于世界历史文化名城西安，是一所培养音乐艺术专门人才的全日制普通高等学校，也是西北地区唯一独立建制的高水平音乐学院。学校始建于1949年，前身为西北军政大学艺术学院音乐部，历经发展，于1980年正式定名西安音乐学院，2009年获批音乐硕士学位授予权，2017年入选陕西省“国内一流学科建设高校”，音乐与舞蹈学为省级一流建设学科。

Located in Xi'an, a world-famous historical and cultural city, Xi'an Conservatory of Music is a full-time ordinary institution of higher learning dedicated to cultivating professionals in music and art, and the only independent high-level conservatory of music in northwest China. Founded in 1949, the school was formerly the Music Department of the Art College of the Northwest Military and Political University. After years of development, it was officially named Xi'an Conservatory of Music in 1980. In 2009, it was approved to grant master's degrees in music. In 2017, it was selected as a "domestic first-class discipline construction university" in Shaanxi Province, with Music and Dance Studies as the provincial first-class construction discipline.

学校以“明德教化、乐音化人”为校训，坚持立德树人根本任务，形成了以音乐学科为主体，涵盖作曲与作曲技术理论、音乐学、音乐表演、录音艺术、舞蹈学等多个专业方向的学科专业体系。现有作曲系、音乐学系、钢琴系、管弦系、民乐系、声乐系、舞蹈系、音乐教育学院、现代音乐学院等12个教学单位，拥有国家级一流本科专业建设点8个，省级一流本科专业建设点3个，国家级特色专业2个，省级特色专业6个。

With the school motto of "Cultivating Morality and Educating People, Transforming People with Music", the school adheres to the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education, and has formed a discipline and professional system with music as the main subject, covering composition and composition technology theory, musicology, music performance, recording art, dance and other professional directions. Currently, it has 12 teaching units including the Composition Department, Musicology Department, Piano Department, Orchestral Department, Traditional Chinese Music Department, Vocal Music Department, Dance Department, College of Music Education, and College of Modern Music. It has 8 national first-class undergraduate major construction sites, 3 provincial first-class undergraduate major construction sites, 2 national characteristic majors, and 6 provincial characteristic majors.

学校师资力量雄厚，拥有一支结构合理、素质优良的教师队伍，其中教授、副教授占比超过40%，多人次获得“全国模范教师”“陕西省教学名师”等荣誉称号。近年来，学校在音乐创作、理论研究、表演艺术等领域成果丰硕，师生在国内外重大音乐赛事中屡获佳绩，为国家和社会培养了大批优秀音乐人才，被誉为“西北音乐人才的摇篮”。

The school has a strong faculty with a well-structured and high-quality teaching team, among which professors and associate professors account for more than 40%. Many of them have won honorary titles such as "National Model Teacher" and "Shaanxi Provincial Famous Teacher". In recent years, the school has achieved fruitful results in the fields of music creation, theoretical research, and performing arts.
