新疆工程学院是自治区区属普通本科高校，是国家首批百所应用型试点高校，坐落于新疆首府乌鲁木齐。学校因煤而建，因工而兴，传承红色基因，赓续优良传统。1958年，由中国人民解放军总后方勤务部第二预备学校163名官兵集体转业组建乌鲁木齐煤矿学校，历经新疆煤炭专科学校、新疆工业高等专科学校等发展阶段，2012年经教育部批准升格为本科院校并定名新疆工程学院。

Xinjiang Institute of Engineering is a public undergraduate university under the autonomous region and one of the first batch of national pilot application-oriented universities, located in Urumqi, the capital of Xinjiang. Founded on coal industry and thriving on engineering education, the university inherits the red gene and continues its fine traditions. In 1958, 163 officers and soldiers from the Second Preparatory School of the General Rear Service Department of the Chinese People's Liberation Army were transferred to Xinjiang to establish Urumqi Coal Mine School. It later developed into Xinjiang Coal College and Xinjiang Polytechnic College, and was upgraded to an undergraduate institution with the current name approved by the Ministry of Education in 2012.

学校秉承“艰苦奋斗、扎根边疆、自强不息、甘于奉献”的胡杨精神和“艰苦奋斗、无私奉献、求真务实、负重致远”的矿山魂精神，以“知行统一、追求卓越”为校训，发展成为一所以工为主、煤炭和能源特色鲜明的应用型大学。现有2个校区，占地面积近2000亩，设有13个二级学院（含2个产业学院）及1个教学部，开设49个本科专业，涵盖工、经、管、艺、理五个学科门类。拥有1个国家一流专业、10个自治区一流本科专业，矿业工程学科为自治区重点学科。

Adhering to the "Populus euphratica spirit" of "hard work, rooting in the frontier, self-improvement, and dedication" and the "mine soul spirit" of "hard work, selfless dedication, seeking truth and being pragmatic, and carrying heavy burdens for a long-term goal", with the school motto of "Unity of knowledge and action, pursuit of excellence", the university has developed into an application-oriented university focusing on engineering with distinct characteristics in coal and energy. It has 2 campuses covering nearly 2000 mu, 13 secondary colleges (including 2 industrial colleges) and 1 teaching department, offering 49 undergraduate majors covering five disciplines: engineering, economics, management, arts, and science. It has 1 national first-class major, 10 autonomous region first-class undergraduate majors, and the mining engineering discipline is a key discipline of the autonomous region.

学校坚持人才强校战略，现有教职工1321人，专任教师869人，其中博士学位教师194人，副高及以上职称教师320人，“双师双能型”教师占比52%。拥有教育部重点实验室、自治区重点实验室等17个省部级科研平台，近五年承担各级各类科研项目千余项，获自治区科技进步奖一等奖1项、二等奖6项。60多年来，累计为社会输送13万余名毕业生，成为新疆煤炭行业骨干和工业领域主力军，为边疆社会稳定和经济发展作出重要贡献。

The university adheres to the strategy of strengthening the university with talents, with 1321 faculty members and 869 full-time teachers, including 194 with doctoral degrees, 320 with associate senior titles or above, and 52% of "double-qualified and double-capable" teachers. It has 17 provincial-level scientific research platforms such as the Ministry of Education Key Laboratory and the Autonomous Region Key Laboratory. In the past five years, it has undertaken more than 1,000 scientific research projects at all levels, winning 1 first prize and 6 second prizes of the Autonomous Region Science and Technology Progress Award. Over the past 60 years, it has trained more than 130,000 graduates, who have become the backbone of Xinjiang's coal industry and the main force in the industrial field, making important contributions to the social stability and economic development of the frontier.
