Xinjiang University of Political Science and Law is a public undergraduate college approved by the Ministry of Education under the care of the Party Central Committee. It was established by integrating the educational resources of the Science and Technology College of Shihezi University and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps Police College. Located in Tumushuke City, a key town on the Silk Road and a new reclamation city, the university undertakes the mission of cultivating high-quality legal talents and frontier defenders for the Corps, Xinjiang and the country.

Adhering to the discipline construction philosophy of comprehensive basic disciplines, prominent political and legal characteristics, and distinct Corps heritage, the university focuses on building characteristic professional clusters such as political and legal studies, judicial police studies, and foreign-related economy and trade. It currently has 8 teaching units including the School of Law, School of Judicial Police, and School of Information Network Security, offering 27 undergraduate majors such as Law, National Security Studies, Anti-Terrorism Policing, and Cybersecurity. With over 500 in-service and aid teachers, it enrolls students from 31 provinces (municipalities and autonomous regions) across the country, with more than 10,000 students in school.
