厦门华厦学院地处经济特区、海上丝绸之路战略支点——厦门，是新中国成立后厦门市第一所民办高校。学校于1993年由时任厦门市政协主席蔡望怀等知名人士发动社会力量捐资创办，2001年成为福建省首批高职院校，2015年获批升格为应用型本科院校，2023年顺利通过教育部本科教学工作合格评估，2025年获批硕士学位授予单位培育项目。

Xiamen Huaxia University is located in Xiamen, a special economic zone and a strategic pivot of the Maritime Silk Road. It is the first private university in Xiamen since the founding of the People's Republic of China. Founded in 1993 by renowned figures such as Cai Wanghuai, then Chairman of Xiamen Municipal Political Consultative Conference, with donations from social forces, the university became one of the first higher vocational colleges in Fujian Province in 2001, was approved to be upgraded to an application-oriented undergraduate university in 2015, successfully passed the undergraduate teaching qualification assessment by the Ministry of Education in 2023, and was approved as a master's degree-granting unit cultivation project in 2025.

学校坚持社会主义办学方向，落实立德树人根本任务，秉持“勤学、修德、明辨、笃实”的校训精神，遵循非营利性公益办学理念，坚定地方性、应用型、开放式的办学定位。现设有环境与公共健康学院、信息与智能机电学院、商务与管理学院、人文学院等7个二级教学单位，开设20多个本科专业，涵盖工、理、管、经、文、艺等学科门类，全日制本科在校生9000余人。拥有国家级一流本科专业建设点、省级一流本科专业建设点等，获批国家级一流本科课程、省级一流本科课程多门，近三年教师承担科研项目280多项，累计科研经费1500多万元。

Adhering to the socialist orientation in running schools, the university fulfills the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education, upholds the school motto of "Diligent Study, Moral Cultivation, Clear Discernment, and Steadfast Practice", follows the non-profit public welfare school-running philosophy, and adheres to the local, application-oriented and open school-running orientation. It now has 7 secondary teaching units including the College of Environment and Public Health, the College of Information and Intelligent Mechatronics, the College of Business and Management, and the College of Humanities, offering more than 20 undergraduate majors covering engineering, science, management, economics, literature, art and other disciplines, with over 9,000 full-time undergraduate students. It has national first-class undergraduate major construction sites, provincial first-class undergraduate major construction sites, etc., and has been approved for many national and provincial first-class undergraduate courses. In the past three years, teachers have undertaken more than 280 scientific research projects with a total research fund of over 15 million yuan.
