湘南学院是经教育部批准，于2003年由原郴州师专、郴州医专、郴州教育学院、郴州师范合并组建的综合性全日制公办普通本科高校，其办学历史可追溯到1912年。学校位于湖南省郴州市，是国家语言文字规范化示范校、湖南省文明高等学校、湖南省园林式单位，分王仙、北湖两个校区办学，主校区位于风景秀丽的王仙岭生态公园东麓。

Xiangnan University is a comprehensive full-time public ordinary undergraduate university approved by the Ministry of Education, established in 2003 through the merger of the former Chenzhou Teachers College, Chenzhou Medical College, Chenzhou College of Education, and Chenzhou Normal School. Its educational history can be traced back to 1912. Located in Chenzhou City, Hunan Province, it is a National Language Standardization Demonstration School, a Civilized Institution of Higher Learning in Hunan Province, and a Garden-style Unit in Hunan Province. The university has two campuses: Wangxian and Beihu, with the main campus situated at the eastern foot of the scenic Wangxianling Ecological Park.

学校占地1542.16亩，总建筑面积75.34万平方米，形成了集信息化、园林化、生态化于一体的现代大学园区。设有21个教学单位，50个本科专业，涵盖经济学、法学、教育学、文学、理学、工学、医学、管理学、艺术学9个学科门类，拥有1所直属附属医院、3所协作型附属医院及110个行业企业合作育人单位。
