西安科技大学是一所中央与地方共建、以陕西省管理为主的普通高等学校，其历史可以追溯到1895年成立的北洋大学工学院采矿冶金科。学校历经变迁，于1958年独立建校，命名为西安矿业学院，1999年更名为西安科技学院，2003年正式定名为西安科技大学。作为国家“中西部高校基础能力建设工程”建设高校，学校始终坚持以立德树人为根本，以服务国家能源战略和区域经济社会发展为己任，形成了以地矿及其相关学科为特色，工、理、文、管、法、经、艺等多学科协调发展的学科专业体系。

Xi'an University of Science and Technology is an ordinary higher education institution jointly built by the central and local governments and mainly managed by Shaanxi Province. Its history can be traced back to the Mining and Metallurgy Department of the Engineering College of Beiyang University founded in 1895. After several changes, the university was independently established in 1958 and named Xi'an Mining Institute, renamed Xi'an University of Science and Technology in 1999, and officially named Xi'an University of Science and Technology in 2003. As a university under the "Basic Capacity Building Project for Universities in Central and Western China", it has always adhered to moral education as its fundamental task and serving the national energy strategy and regional economic and social development as its responsibility, forming a discipline and professional system with geology, mining and related disciplines as its characteristics, and coordinated development of engineering, science, liberal arts, management, law, economics, art and other disciplines.

学校现有雁塔和临潼两个校区，占地面积约121万㎡，校舍建筑面积约130万㎡。设有20个学院（部），开设60个本科专业，拥有一级学科博士学位授权点7个、一级学科硕士学位授权点25个、硕士专业学位授权类别16个，博士后科研流动站6个。学校师资力量雄厚，现有教职工2400余人，其中专任教师1600余人，具有高级职称教师800余人，国家级人才60余人，省级人才200余人。近年来，学校在教学、科研、社会服务等方面取得了显著成就，先后获得国家级教学成果奖、国家科学技术奖等多项荣誉，为国家和社会培养了大批高素质人才。

The university currently has two campuses, Yanta and Lintong, covering an area of about 1.21 million square meters and a school building area of about 1.3 million square meters. It has 20 colleges (departments), offering 60 undergraduate majors, with 7 first-level discipline doctoral degree authorization points, 25 first-level discipline master's degree authorization points, 16 master's professional degree authorization categories, and 6 post-doctoral research stations. The university has a strong faculty, with more than 2,400 faculty members, including more than 1,600 full-time teachers, more than 800 teachers with senior titles, more than 60 national-level talents, and more than 200 provincial-level talents. In recent years, the university has made remarkable achievements in teaching, scientific research, social services, etc., and has won many honors such as national teaching achievement awards and national science and technology awards, cultivating a large number of high-quality talents for the country and society.
