盐城工学院是江苏省属全日制普通本科高校，坐落于素有“东方湿地之都、仙鹤麋鹿之乡”美誉的沿海开放城市——盐城，建有建军东路和希望大道两个校区。学校于1996年5月由盐城工业专科学校与盐城职业大学合并组建而成。盐城工业专科学校（始名盐城工学院）创建于1958年，1986年成为全国建材类3所示范性高等工业专科学校之一；盐城职业大学创建于1985年。

Yancheng Institute of Technology is a full-time public undergraduate university under the jurisdiction of Jiangsu Province. It is located in Yancheng, a coastal open city known as "the capital of oriental wetlands and the hometown of red-crowned cranes and elk". The university has two campuses: Jianjun East Road Campus and Xiwang Avenue Campus. Founded in May 1996, the university was formed by the merger of Yancheng Polytechnic College and Yancheng Vocational University. Yancheng Polytechnic College (originally named Yancheng Institute of Technology) was founded in 1958 and became one of the three national model higher industrial colleges in the building materials category in 1986; Yancheng Vocational University was established in 1985.

学校是教育部“卓越工程师教育培养计划”试点高校、“国家级新工科研究与实践项目”入选高校，CDIO工程教育联盟成员单位。工程科学、材料科学、化学3个学科进入ESI排名全球前1%，拥有3个国家级特色专业（土木工程、机械设计制造及其自动化、材料科学与工程），4个教育部卓越计划试点专业。

The university is a pilot university of the "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program" of the Ministry of Education, a selected university of the "National New Engineering Research and Practice Project", and a member unit of the CDIO Engineering Education Alliance. Three disciplines, namely Engineering Science, Materials Science, and Chemistry, have entered the top 1% of ESI global rankings. It has 3 national-level characteristic majors (Civil Engineering, Mechanical Design, Manufacturing and Automation, Materials Science and Engineering) and 4 pilot majors of the Excellent Engineer Program of the Ministry of Education.

截至2025年，学校占地面积2275亩，教职工1500多人，专任教师1300多人，其中高级职称700多人、博士500多人。学校始终坚持以人才培养为中心，着力培养应用型、创新型人才，为区域经济社会发展和行业进步提供有力的人才支撑和智力支持。

As of 2025, the university covers an area of 2275 mu, with more than 1,500 faculty members and over 1,300 full-time teachers, including more than 700 with senior professional titles and over 500 with doctoral degrees.
