宜春学院的前身是1958年创办的宜春大学。2000年1月，经国家教育部批准，由原宜春师范专科学校、宜春医学专科学校、宜春农业专科学校、宜春市职工业余大学合并升格为全日制公办本科院校。学校现有教职工1506人，其中专任教师1200余人，具有高级专业技术职称的教师占专任教师比例40%以上，博士、硕士占专任教师比例82%以上。设有19个教学院，涵盖10大学科门类、64个本科专业，拥有专业学位硕士点1个，省级一流学科1个，国家级特色专业2个，国家综合改革试点专业1个，国家卓越人才教育培养计划专业2个。

Yichun University traces its roots back to Yichun University founded in 1958. In January 2000, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, it was upgraded to a full-time public undergraduate institution through the merger of the former Yichun Teachers College, Yichun Medical College, Yichun Agricultural College, and Yichun Municipal Workers'业余 University. The university currently has 1,506 faculty members, including over 1,200 full-time teachers, with more than 40% holding senior professional titles and over 82% having doctoral or master's degrees. It comprises 19 teaching colleges covering 10 disciplines and 64 undergraduate programs, with 1 professional master's degree program, 1 provincial first-class discipline, 2 national-level characteristic specialties, 1 national comprehensive reform pilot specialty, and 2 national excellent talent education and training programs.

学校秉承“厚德、尚能、博学、笃行”的校训，立足地域特色构建以“宜人”为核心的校园文化品牌体系，形成“红色铸魂、五色宜人、四季宜人、四美宜人”四位一体的实践路径。拥有国家级创业孵化示范基地、国家级创新创业实践教育基地等多个国家级平台，以及省级重点实验室、工程研究中心等科研平台。截至目前，全日制在校生近1.9万人，已发展成为江西省学科门类齐全、特色鲜明的综合性本科院校，是江西省首批转型发展试点高校和全国创新创业典型经验高校。

Adhering to the motto of "Houde, Nengneng, Boxue, Duxing" (Virtue, Ability, Erudition, Practice), the university has built a campus culture brand system centered on "Yiren" (pleasant) based on regional characteristics, forming a four-in-one practice path of "Red Soul Casting, Five-Color Yiren, Four-Season Yiren, and Four-Beauty Yiren". It boasts multiple national-level platforms such as the National Entrepreneurship Incubation Demonstration Base and National Innovation and Entrepreneurship Practice Education Base, as well as scientific research platforms including provincial key laboratories and engineering research centers. With nearly 19,000 full-time students, it has developed into a comprehensive undergraduate university with complete disciplines and distinctive features in Jiangxi Province, being one of the first batch of pilot universities for transformation and development in Jiangxi and a national model university for innovation and entrepreneurship.
