阳光学院实行一校两区办学模式，其中福州校本部位于中国近代科技、教育、工业发源地——福州马尾，福州滨海校区位于福州新区、海上丝绸之路核心区——福州长乐。自办学20多年来，学校秉承“刚健笃实，辉光日新”的校训，以培养人格健全、专业基础扎实、实践能力突出、具有社会责任感和创新创业精神的高素质应用型人才为己任，紧贴并服务于福建区域产业发展方向，逐步发展成为以工科为主，多学科协调发展的一流应用型大学。

Yangguang College operates a two-campus model, with the Fuzhou Main Campus located in Mawei, Fuzhou—the birthplace of modern Chinese science, technology, education, and industry—and the Fuzhou Coastal Campus situated in Changle, Fuzhou New Area and a core zone of the Maritime Silk Road. Over more than 20 years of operation, adhering to the motto "Upright, Solid, Brilliant, and Progressive," the college is committed to cultivating high-quality applied talents with sound character, solid professional foundations, outstanding practical abilities, social responsibility, and innovative entrepreneurship. Closely aligned with and serving the industrial development direction of Fujian Province, it has gradually developed into a first-class applied university with engineering as its main focus and coordinated development of multiple disciplines.

学校设二级学院10个，开设40个本科专业，涵盖工学、理学、管理学、经济学、文学、法学、艺术学、教育学等八大学科门类。其中国家级一流本科专业建设点3个（计算机科学与技术、电子信息工程、电子商务），省级一流专业建设点5个（金融学、法学、美术学、土木工程、工商管理）；国家级一流本科课程3门，省级一流本科课程41门。学校实施“百博计划”，引入9位国家级人才及30余位省级高层次人才，全校现有教职工1100余人，其中具有硕博学位的教师占83.39%，双师型教师近50%。

The college has 10 secondary colleges offering 40 undergraduate majors, covering eight disciplines including engineering, science, management, economics, literature, law, art, and education. Among them, there are 3 national-level first-class undergraduate major construction sites (Computer Science and Technology, Electronic Information Engineering, E-commerce) and 5 provincial-level first-class major construction sites (Finance, Law, Fine Arts, Civil Engineering, Business Administration); 3 national-level first-class undergraduate courses and 41 provincial-level first-class undergraduate courses. The college implements the "Hundred Doctors Plan," introducing 9 national-level talents and over 30 provincial-level high-level talents. The college currently has more than 1,100 faculty members, among whom 83.39% have master's or doctoral degrees, and nearly 50% are double-qualified teachers.
