云南国防工业职业技术学院成立于2004年7月，是一所以工科为主、工管结合，面向光电、机械、化工、电子信息等行业，培养高素质、高技能专门人才的省属公办普通高等职业技术院校。学校与云南开放大学实行“一套班子、两块牌子”的管理体制，现有呈贡、学府两个校区，校园面积842亩，全日制高职在校学生7500余人。下设光电工程学院、机械电子工程学院等多个二级学院，开设有光电子技术、模具设计与制造等43个高职专科专业，其中13个专业被评为省级现代学徒制试点建设专业，信息与通信技术（ICT）专业群成为云南省A档专业群。

Yunnan Vocational and Technical College of National Defense Industry was founded in July 2004. It is a public full-time higher vocational college under Yunnan Provincial Government, focusing on engineering disciplines with integrated engineering and management education. The college aims to cultivate high-quality and skilled professionals for industries such as optoelectronics, machinery, chemical engineering, and electronic information. Operating under the "one leadership team, two nameplates" management system with Yunnan Open University, it has two campuses (Chenggong and Xuefu) covering an area of 842 mu, with over 7,500 full-time vocational students. It has established multiple secondary colleges including the School of Optoelectronic Engineering and the School of Mechanical and Electronic Engineering, offering 43 higher vocational programs such as Optoelectronic Technology and Mold Design & Manufacturing. Among these, 13 programs are rated as provincial modern apprenticeship pilot programs, and the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) program group has been designated as Yunnan Provincial Grade A program group.

学校师资力量雄厚，现有专任教师676人，其中正高职称48人、副高职称220人，双师型教师306人，省级教学名师3人。建有校内实验实训室138个、校外实训基地119个，是国家国防科工委评定的首批国防科技工业职业教育实习实训基地、教育部高等职业教育数控技术实训基地。近年来，学校先后荣获云南省示范性高职院校、云南省优质高职院校等称号，毕业生就业率连续保持在90%以上，2009年以来多次获得云南省高校毕业生就业工作一等奖。

The college boasts a strong teaching faculty with 676 full-time teachers, including 48 professors, 220 associate professors, 306 "double-qualified" teachers, and 3 provincial-level teaching masters. It has built 138 on-campus laboratories and training rooms, and 119 off-campus training bases. It is recognized as one of the first National Defense Science and Technology Industry Vocational Education Practice Training Bases by the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense, and a Numerical Control Technology Training Base for Higher Vocational Education by the Ministry of Education. In recent years, the college has been awarded titles such as Yunnan Provincial Model Higher Vocational College and Yunnan Provincial High-Quality Higher Vocational College. The employment rate of graduates has remained above 90% for consecutive years, and it has won the first prize in Yunnan Provincial College Graduate Employment Work Evaluation multiple times since 2009.
