云南旅游职业学院是经云南省人民政府批准、教育部备案的云南省唯一一所旅游高等职业专科学校，坐落于中国历史文化名城、享有“天气常如二三月、花枝不断四时春”美誉的“春城”昆明。前身是1956年4月成立的原地质矿产部直属学校、国家级重点学校昆明地质学校；1965年重庆地质学校、四川地质技工学校并入昆明地质学校；1997年12月，原地质矿产部将学校转隶云南省人民政府管辖，并改建为云南省旅游学校，由原云南省旅游局主管；2011年5月，经云南省人民政府批准、教育部备案，升格为专科办学层次的云南旅游职业学院；2018年10月，由云南省文化和旅游厅转隶云南省教育厅归口管理。

Yunnan Vocational College of Tourism is the only higher vocational college specializing in tourism in Yunnan Province, approved by the People's Government of Yunnan Province and registered with the Ministry of Education. It is located in Kunming, a famous historical and cultural city in China, known as the "Spring City" with the reputation of "perpetual spring-like weather and blooming flowers all year round". Its predecessor was Kunming Geological School, a national key school directly under the former Ministry of Geology and Mineral Resources, established in April 1956. In 1965, Chongqing Geological School and Sichuan Geological Technical School were merged into Kunming Geological School. In December 1997, the former Ministry of Geology and Mineral Resources transferred the school to the jurisdiction of the People's Government of Yunnan Province and restructured it into Yunnan Tourism School, which was under the charge of the former Yunnan Provincial Tourism Bureau. In May 2011, with the approval of the People's Government of Yunnan Province and the record of the Ministry of Education, it was upgraded to Yunnan Vocational College of Tourism at the junior college level. In October 2018, it was transferred from Yunnan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism to Yunnan Provincial Department of Education for centralized management.

学院以立德树人为根本任务，以创建高水平旅游职业高等学校为目标，是教育部设立的“全国重点建设职业教育师资培训基地”，文化和旅游部（原国家旅游局）授予的“中国—东盟旅游人才教育培训基地”，中国科协认定的“全国科普教育基地”；是教育部、文化和旅游部认定的“全国旅游职业教育校企合作示范基地”；被列为首批“云南省管理水平提升行动计划职业院校管理15强示范校”，学院牵头的云南旅游职业教育集团被教育部立项为“全国示范性职业教育集团培育单位”；学院被评为“国际影响力50强”，首届“亚太职业院校影响力50强”；2022年旅游管理专业群入围省级高水平专业群建设项目；2023年4月联合云南省旅游业协会牵头成立云南智慧康养旅游产教融合共同体；2023年7月被列入第二批云南省职业教育信息化标杆学校培育单位。

The college takes moral education as its fundamental task and aims to build a high-level tourism vocational college. It is a "National Key Construction Vocational Education Teacher Training Base" established by the Ministry of Education, a "China-ASEAN Tourism Talent Education and Training Base" awarded by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism (formerly the National Tourism Administration), and a "National Popular Science Education Base" recognized by the China Association for Science and Technology. It is also a "National Tourism Vocational Education School-Enterprise Cooperation Demonstration Base" recognized by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. It was listed as one of the first batch of "Top 15 Demonstration Schools for Vocational College Management under Yunnan Province's Management Level Improvement Action Plan". The Yunnan Tourism Vocational Education Group led by the college was approved by the Ministry of Education as a "National Demonstrative Vocational Education Group Cultivation Unit". The college was rated as "Top 50 in International Influence" and the first "Top 50 in Asia-Pacific Vocational College Influence". In 2022, the tourism management professional group was shortlisted for the provincial high-level professional group construction project. In April 2023, it jointly led the establishment of the Yunnan Smart Health and Wellness Tourism Industry-Education Integration Community with the Yunnan Tourism Association. In July 2023, it was included in the second batch of Yunnan Provincial Vocational Education Informatization Benchmarking School Cultivation Units.

学院坚持“师德为先、德才兼备”的教师发展方针，形成以专业带头人为引领，以骨干教师为核心，以“双师素质”教师为主体，年龄、职称、学历等结构基本合理的教学队伍；现有教职工430余人，其中在编教职工320余人，专任教师290人；教授（正高职）19人，副教授（副高职）85人；硕士及以上教师160余人，“双师型”教师占比超60%；云南省教学名师2人，云南省旅游专家服务团成员20余人，云南省导游考试现场考官40余人。

The college adheres to the teacher development policy of "virtue first, moral integrity and ability", forming a teaching team led by professional leaders, with backbone teachers as the core, and "double-qualified" teachers as the main body, with basically reasonable structures in age, professional title and education. There are more than 430 faculty members, including more than 320 in-service faculty members and 290 full-time teachers. There are 19 professors (full senior title), 85 associate professors (associate senior title), more than 160 teachers with master's degree or above, and "double-qualified" teachers account for more than 60%. There are 2 Yunnan Provincial Teaching Masters, more than 20 members of Yunnan Provincial Tourism Expert Service Group, and more than 40 on-site examiners for Yunnan Provincial Tour Guide Examination.

学院形成以现代旅游教育为特色，财经商贸、文化艺术、外语教育、信息技术、资源工程为拓展的办学格局，至今共培养旅游及相关人才60000余人，被誉为“红土高原旅游人才的摇篮”。目前，共设有酒店管理、旅游管理、烹饪、经济管理、文化艺术、外语、信息工程、资源工程8个二级学院以及马克思主义学院、体育教学部、基础教学部3个公共教学部门，1个继续教学学院；共有高等职业教育专科专业47个，在校生人数从2016年的3000余人，增加到2022年的12300余人，毕业生年终就业率始终保持在92%以上。导游专业、酒店管理专业是教育部认定的国家级骨干专业、文化和旅游部认定的国家级校企合作示范基地建设专业；会计专业是云南省5星（A类）专业；烹调工艺与营养专业、宝玉石鉴定与加工专业、婚庆服务与管理专业是省级现代学徒制试点专业。

The college has formed a school-running pattern featuring modern tourism education and expanding into finance and economics, culture and art, foreign language education, information technology and resource engineering. So far, it has trained more than 60,000 tourism and related talents, and is known as "the cradle of tourism talents on the red earth plateau". At present, it has 8 secondary colleges including Hotel Management, Tourism Management, Cooking, Economic Management, Culture and Art, Foreign Languages, Information Engineering, and Resource Engineering, as well as 3 public teaching departments including Marxism College, Physical Education Department, and Basic Teaching Department, and 1 Continuing Education College. There are 47 higher vocational college majors. The number of students has increased from more than 3,000 in 2016 to more than 12,300 in 2022, and the annual employment rate of graduates has always remained above 92%. The major of Tour Guide and Hotel Management are national-level key majors recognized by the Ministry of Education and national-level school-enterprise cooperation demonstration base construction majors recognized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. The Accounting major is a 5-star (Class A) major in Yunnan Province. The majors of Cooking Technology and Nutrition, Gem Identification and Processing, and Wedding Service and Management are provincial-level modern apprenticeship pilot majors.
