云南中医药大学始建于1960年，前身为1953年成立的昆明中医进修学校，是全国第二批高等中医药本科院校。1986年获硕士学位授予权，2016年成为云南省人民政府与国家中医药管理局共建高校，2018年获批博士学位授予单位并更名为云南中医药大学，现为国家中医药临床研究基地、国家中医药服务出口基地。学校秉承“崇德和合、博学敦行”校训，形成以中医药为主体、民族医药为特色，医、理、工、管多学科协调发展的办学格局，构建了全国唯一的傣医学本、硕、博人才培养体系，累计培养9.5万余名中医药专门人才，80%以上云南名中医及50%县级中医机构负责人均为该校校友。

Yunnan University of Chinese Medicine (YUCM) was founded in 1960, evolved from Kunming TCM Training School established in 1953. As one of China's second batch of undergraduate TCM institutions, it obtained master's degree authorization in 1986, became a joint university by Yunnan Provincial Government and National Administration of TCM in 2016, and was accredited as a doctoral degree-granting unit in 2018 when it was renamed from Yunnan College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Currently, it serves as National TCM Clinical Research Base and National TCM Service Export Base. Adhering to the motto "Virtue, Harmony, Erudition, and Practice", YUCM features TCM as its core discipline with ethnic medicine characteristics, developing a coordinated multidisciplinary system covering medicine, science, engineering, and management. It established China's only integrated undergraduate-master-doctoral education system for Dai ethnic medicine, having cultivated over 95,000 TCM professionals. Notably, over 80% of Yunnan's renowned TCM physicians and 50% of county-level TCM institution directors are YUCM alumni.

学校现有呈贡、白塔两个校区，总占地778.78亩，全日制在校生1.6万余人，其中博士、硕士研究生2481人，留学生163人。拥有1个一级学科博士学位授权点，4个一级学科硕士学位授权点，25个本科专业，其中国家一流专业建设点4个。师资队伍中博士占比31.83%，拥有国家级科研平台22个，近三年获云南省科技进步一等奖2项，中华中医药学会科技奖一等奖1项。直属附属医院在2023年全国三级公立医院绩效考核中，第一附属医院位列中医综合医院第16位（A+等级），第二附属医院位列中西医结合医院第52位（B等级）。

The university has two campuses (Chenggong and Baita) covering 778.78 mu, with over 16,000 full-time students including 2,481 postgraduates (doctoral and master's) and 163 international students. It boasts 1 first-level doctoral program, 4 first-level master's programs, and 25 undergraduate majors (4 national first-class undergraduate programs). The faculty comprises 31.83% doctoral degree holders, supported by 22 national-level research platforms. In recent three years, it has won 2 first prizes of Yunnan Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award and 1 first prize of China Association of Chinese Medicine Science and Technology Award. Its affiliated hospitals achieved outstanding rankings in the 2023 National Third-Class Public Hospital Performance Evaluation: the First Affiliated Hospital ranked 16th (Grade A+) among TCM general hospitals, and the Second Affiliated Hospital ranked 52nd (Grade B) among integrated TCM-Western medicine hospitals.
