云南文化艺术职业学院始建于1956年，是云南省第一所省属公办艺术类职业院校，前身为云南省文化艺术干部学校，历经云南省戏曲学校、云南省文艺学校、云南省艺术学校等发展阶段。2004年5月，经教育部批准，由云南省艺术学校与云南省文化厅职工大学合并组建为云南文化艺术职业学院，现为全日制公办普通高等职业学院，是中国非物质文化遗产传承人群研培计划院校、云南省现代学徒制试点单位，加挂“云南省艺术学校”牌子，形成大中专一体化办学格局。

Yunnan Vocational College of Culture & Art was founded in 1956. It is the first public art vocational college in Yunnan Province, formerly known as Yunnan Cultural and Art Cadre School. It has gone through several development stages such as Yunnan Opera School, Yunnan Literature and Art School, and Yunnan Art School. In May 2004, approved by the Ministry of Education, it was merged with Yunnan Art School and Yunnan Cultural Department Staff University to form Yunnan Vocational College of Culture & Art. Currently, it is a full-time public higher vocational college, a training institution for inheritors of Chinese intangible cultural heritage, a pilot unit of modern apprenticeship system in Yunnan Province. It also operates under the name "Yunnan Art School" to form an integrated educational structure of technical secondary school and junior college.

学院位于昆明市西山区，现有西山、卧云山两个校区，开设音乐表演、舞蹈表演、戏剧影视表演、美术设计、文化产业管理等20余个专科专业，其中舞蹈表演、戏曲表演为省级特色专业。学院以培养实用型中高级文化艺术人才为目标，构建了“校企合作、订单培养”的办学模式，与云南省歌舞剧院、杨丽萍文化艺术产业学院等多家单位合作，是全国唯一开设大专层次杂技专业的院校，为云南文化艺术事业发展提供了重要人才支撑。

The college is located in Xishan District, Kunming, with two campuses: Xishan and Woyunshan. It offers more than 20 junior college majors such as Music Performance, Dance Performance, Drama and Film Performance, Art Design, and Cultural Industry Management, among which Dance Performance and Opera Performance are provincial-level characteristic majors. Aiming to cultivate practical medium and senior cultural and artistic talents, the college has built a school-running model of "school-enterprise cooperation and order-based training". It has cooperated with Yunnan Song and Dance Theatre, Yang Liping Cultural and Art Industry College and other institutions. It is the only college in China offering an acrobatics major at the junior college level, providing important talent support for the development of cultural and artistic undertakings in Yunnan.
