云南新兴职业学院创建于1993年，是经云南省政府批准、国家教育部备案，具有独立颁发高等学历文凭资格的全日制普通高等院校，其前身是南方民族医药进修学院。学院秉持“技能决定一生，道德决定一世”的办学理念，重视德育教育和技能教育相结合，注重学生动手能力和实际操作能力的培养，以素质教育、技能教育、特色教育为办学宗旨，确立“立德树人、匠心报国”的校训。

Yunnan Xinxing Vocational College was founded in 1993. It is a full-time ordinary higher education institution approved by the Yunnan Provincial Government and registered with the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, with the right to independently issue higher education diplomas. Its predecessor was the Southern Ethnic Medicine Training College. Adhering to the school-running philosophy of "Skills determine one's life, morality determines one's lifetime", the college attaches importance to the combination of moral education and skill education, focuses on cultivating students' practical ability and operational capability. It takes quality education, skill education and characteristic education as its school-running purpose, and establishes the school motto of "Establishing morality and cultivating people, and serving the country with ingenuity".

学院坐落在景色秀丽、四季如春的昆明，现有三个办学层次（中专、大专（高职大专、五年制大专）、专本衔接），开设药学、护理、针灸推拿、医学影像技术等医药卫生类为主的专业。校园内建有犇牛广场、英雄广场、雷锋广场等文化设施，校外建有孔子书院，注重通过校园文化建设培养学生的爱国主义情怀和职业道德。学院与多家企业建立校企合作关系，强调实践教学，推行“专业知识占30%，实践教学占70%”的成绩评定体系，多年来为基层医疗卫生机构培养了大量实用型人才，就业率达98%以上，连续多年获云南省教育厅就业目标责任考核二等奖。

Located in Kunming, a beautiful city with spring-like weather all year round, the college has three educational levels (secondary vocational, junior college (higher vocational college, five-year junior college), and junior college-undergraduate connection). It offers majors mainly in medicine and health, such as pharmacy, nursing, acupuncture and massage, and medical imaging technology. Cultural facilities such as Benniu Square, Hero Square, and Lei Feng Square are built on campus, and a Confucius Academy is built off campus, focusing on cultivating students' patriotism and professional ethics through campus culture construction. The college has established school-enterprise cooperation relationships with many enterprises, emphasizing practical teaching, and implementing a performance evaluation system of "30% professional knowledge and 70% practical teaching". Over the years, it has cultivated a large number of practical talents for primary medical and health institutions, with an employment rate of over 98%, and has won the second prize in the employment target responsibility assessment of Yunnan Provincial Department of Education for many consecutive years.
