岳阳学院是经教育部批准设立的全日制民办非营利性普通本科高等学校，由湖南省人民政府与岳阳市人民政府共管，以岳阳市人民政府为主管理。学校前身为湖南理工学院南湖学院，2025年正式转设更名为岳阳学院。学校坐落在岳阳市南湖之滨、龙山之麓，与岳阳楼遥相呼应，校园面积近1800亩，办学规模约15000人。

Yueyang College is a full-time private non-profit ordinary undergraduate university approved by the Ministry of Education. It is jointly managed by the People's Government of Hunan Province and the People's Government of Yueyang City, with the latter taking the lead. Formerly known as Nanhu College of Hunan Institute of Technology, it was officially renamed Yueyang College after its transformation in 2025. Located on the shores of Nanhu Lake and at the foot of Longshan Mountain in Yueyang City, adjacent to the Yueyang Tower, the campus covers an area of nearly 1,800 mu with a student capacity of approximately 15,000.

学校现有专任教师373人，其中高级职称教师185人，设有马克思主义学院、化工与材料学院等8个二级学院，2025年开设19个本科专业，涵盖工学、管理学、文学等7个学科门类。学校秉承“明德笃学 求索致远”的校训，致力于培养适应地方经济社会发展需要的高素质应用型人才，目标建成特色鲜明的区域高水平应用型本科高校。

The college has 373 full-time teachers, including 185 with senior professional titles. It comprises 8 secondary colleges such as the School of Marxism and the School of Chemical Engineering and Materials. In 2025, it offers 19 undergraduate majors covering 7 disciplines including engineering, management, and literature. Adhering to the motto of "Virtue, Diligence, Exploration, and Perseverance", the college is committed to cultivating high-quality applied talents to meet local economic and social development needs, aiming to become a distinctive regional high-level applied undergraduate university.
