益阳职业技术学院是2004年经湖南省人民政府批准、教育部备案，由益阳市人民政府举办的全日制公办高等职业院校（教育部备案编号：13808，在湘招生代码：4743）。其前身为1972年建校的国家级重点中专原益阳地区农校和1979年建校的省部级重点中专原益阳地区供销（工贸）学校，2006年6月整体搬入现址（原益阳师专校址）。

Yiyang Vocational and Technical College is a full-time public higher vocational college approved by the Hunan Provincial People's Government and registered with the Ministry of Education in 2004, sponsored by the Yiyang Municipal People's Government (Ministry of Education registration number: 13808, enrollment code in Hunan: 4743). Its predecessors are the former Yiyang Regional Agricultural School, a national key secondary vocational school founded in 1972, and the former Yiyang Regional Supply and Marketing (Industry and Trade) School, a provincial key secondary vocational school founded in 1979. In June 2006, it moved to its current location (the original site of Yiyang Normal College) as a whole.

学院校园面积636.29亩（其中高新产业学院104.43亩），建筑面积17.6万多平方米，现有在校学生10911人，在岗教职员工622人（含合作办学单位136人），其中教授、副教授职称104人，研究生学历教师178人。学院以“明德、笃学、精技、创新”为校训，秉持“奋楫争先，扬帆致远”的学校精神，重点推进船舶工程技术、农村电子商务、智慧农业三大特色专业群建设，是湖南省楚怡双高建设单位，先后荣获全国德育工作先进单位、全国民族团结进步示范单位等称号。

The college covers an area of 636.29 mu (including 104.43 mu for the High-tech Industry College) with a building area of over 176,000 square meters. Currently, there are 10,911 students and 622 faculty members (including 136 from cooperative education units), among whom 104 have professor or associate professor titles and 178 have postgraduate degrees. With the school motto of "Virtue, Diligence, Proficiency, Innovation" and the school spirit of "Striving to be the first and sailing far", the college focuses on promoting the construction of three characteristic professional groups: Ship Engineering Technology, Rural E-commerce, and Smart Agriculture. It is a construction unit of Hunan Chuyi Double High-Level Project and has successively won titles such as National Advanced Unit in Moral Education and National Model Unit for National Unity and Progress.
