扬州大学是江苏省属重点综合性大学，是全国率先进行合并办学的高校，1992年由扬州师范学院、江苏农学院、扬州工学院、扬州医学院、江苏水利工程专科学校、江苏商业专科学校等6所高校合并组建而成。学校现有一级学科博士学位授权点21个，一级学科硕士学位授权点53个，博士后流动站20个，拥有国家级重点学科2个，国家重点（培育）学科1个，省优势学科7个，省重点序列学科1个，省“十四五”重点学科11个，化学、植物与动物科学、工程学、农业科学、临床医学、材料科学、计算机科学、生物学与生物化学、药理学与毒理学等9个学科进入ESI全球排名前1%。

Yangzhou University is a key comprehensive university in Jiangsu Province and one of the first universities in China to carry out merged education. It was established in 1992 by the merger of 6 universities, including Yangzhou Normal College, Jiangsu Agricultural College, Yangzhou Institute of Technology, Yangzhou Medical College, Jiangsu Water Conservancy Engineering College, and Jiangsu Commercial College. The university currently has 21 first-level disciplines authorized for doctoral degrees, 53 first-level disciplines authorized for master's degrees, and 20 post-doctoral research stations. It has 2 national key disciplines, 1 national key (cultivation) discipline, 7 provincial superior disciplines, 1 provincial key sequence discipline, and 11 provincial key disciplines in the "14th Five-Year Plan". Nine disciplines, including Chemistry, Plant and Animal Science, Engineering, Agricultural Science, Clinical Medicine, Materials Science, Computer Science, Biology and Biochemistry, and Pharmacology and Toxicology, have entered the top 1% of ESI global rankings.
