永州职业技术学院是2000年7月经湖南省人民政府批准教育部备案，由原零陵卫校、零陵农校合并升格而成，2003年6月又整合原零陵商校、零陵师范、零陵工校三所中专学校资源。学校总占地面积3300亩，建筑面积64.43万平方米，固定资产总值11.80亿元，教学仪器设备总值2.47亿元，馆藏图书104.05万册。现有教职员工1205人，其中正高职称67人、副高职称301人，开设39个高职专业，全日制在校学生2.1万余人，面向27个省市区招生。

Yongzhou Vocational Technical College was approved by the People's Government of Hunan Province and registered with the Ministry of Education in July 2000, formed by the merger and upgrading of the former Lingling Health School and Lingling Agricultural School. In June 2003, it further integrated resources from three secondary schools: the former Lingling Commercial School, Lingling Normal School, and Lingling Technical School. The college covers a total area of 3,300 mu (about 220 hectares) with a building area of 644,300 square meters. Its fixed assets are valued at 1.18 billion yuan, including teaching equipment worth 247 million yuan, and a collection of 1,040,500 books. It has 1,205 faculty and staff, including 67 professors and 301 associate professors, offering 39 higher vocational programs with over 21,000 full-time students enrolled from 27 provinces and cities.

学校坚持“立足永州，服务三农”的办学定位，形成了“以服务求支持，以贡献求发展”的办学特色，拥有国家级教学团队1个、省级教学团队5个，国家级骨干专业3个、省级高水平专业群3个，建有附属医院、生态养殖实训中心等三大校内生产性实训基地。先后荣获全国职业教育先进单位、国家示范性高等职业院校、湖南省楚怡高水平高职学校建设单位等荣誉，2010年通过国家示范性高职院校验收，跻身全国高职教育第一方阵。

Adhering to the orientation of "rooted in Yongzhou, serving agriculture, rural areas and farmers", the college has formed a distinctive school-running feature of "seeking support through service and development through contribution". It boasts 1 national-level teaching team, 5 provincial-level teaching teams, 3 national-level key majors, and 3 provincial-level high-level professional groups. The college has three on-campus productive training bases including an affiliated hospital and an ecological breeding training center. It has successively won honors such as National Advanced Unit in Vocational Education, National Demonstrative Higher Vocational College, and Construction Unit of Hunan Chuyi High-level Vocational School. In 2010, it passed the acceptance of National Demonstrative Higher Vocational Colleges, ranking among the top tier of higher vocational education in China.
