浙江传媒学院是浙江省人民政府和国家广播电视总局共建高校，是一所行业特色鲜明的高水平传媒类高校。学校始建于1978年，历经浙江广播电视学校、浙江广播电视高等专科学校等发展阶段，2004年升格为本科院校并更名为浙江传媒学院。学校以培养“高素质、强能力、善创新”的传媒人才为目标，形成了以新闻传播学、戏剧与影视学、艺术学理论等学科为骨干，文、工、艺、管、经、法等多学科协调发展的学科专业体系。

Communication University of Zhejiang is a university co-constructed by the People's Government of Zhejiang Province and the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television. It is a high-level media university with distinct industry characteristics. Founded in 1978, the university has gone through stages of development such as Zhejiang Radio and Television School and Zhejiang Radio and Television College. In 2004, it was upgraded to an undergraduate college and renamed Communication University of Zhejiang. Aiming to cultivate "high-quality, strong-capability and innovative" media talents, the university has formed a disciplinary and professional system with journalism and communication, drama and film studies, art theory as the backbone, and coordinated development of multiple disciplines including liberal arts, engineering, art, management, economics and law.

学校拥有杭州下沙和桐乡两个校区，总占地面积1305亩，校舍建筑面积近64万平方米。教学科研仪器设备总值近4亿元，建有国家级实验教学示范中心、国家级虚拟仿真实验教学中心等一批高水平教学科研平台。学校现有全日制在校本科生、研究生及留学生14000余人，教职工1200余人，其中高级职称教师占比近40%，拥有一批享受国务院特殊津贴专家、教育部新世纪优秀人才、浙江省特级专家等高层次人才。

The university has two campuses in Xiasha (Hangzhou) and Tongxiang, covering a total area of 1305 mu with a building area of nearly 640,000 square meters. The total value of teaching and research instruments and equipment is nearly 400 million yuan, and a number of high-level teaching and research platforms have been built, such as the National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center and the National Virtual Simulation Experimental Teaching Center. Currently, the university has more than 14,000 full-time undergraduates, postgraduates and international students, and over 1,200 faculty members, among whom nearly 40% have senior professional titles. It also has a group of high-level talents including experts enjoying special government allowances from the State Council, outstanding talents in the new century from the Ministry of Education, and special-grade experts in Zhejiang Province.
