常德职业技术学院是湖南省人民政府举办，常德市人民政府主管、湖南省教育厅业务管理的一所综合型高等职业院校，2003年4月经湖南省人民政府批准，由原常德农业学校、常德卫生学校和常德机电工程学校合并组建而成。学院办学最早可追溯到1905年（清光绪三十一年）在长沙建立的湖南农业学堂。

Changde Vocational and Technical College is a comprehensive higher vocational college sponsored by the People's Government of Hunan Province, administered by the People's Government of Changde City, and under the business management of the Department of Education of Hunan Province. Approved by the People's Government of Hunan Province in April 2003, the college was formed by the merger of the former Changde Agricultural School, Changde Health School and Changde Mechanical and Electrical Engineering School. The college's educational history can be traced back to Hunan Agricultural School established in Changsha in 1905 (the 31st year of Guangxu in the Qing Dynasty).

学院坐落于享有“桃花源里的城市”美誉之称的湖南省常德市，现有专职教师718人，其中正高职称教师32人，副高职称教师182人。在校学生12000人，建有269个校内专业实训室，175个校外实训基地，护理专业实训基地被列为中央财政支持的职业教育实训基地。学院以高等职业技术教育为主，设有护理系、医学系、药学系等八个教学系和一所教育学院、两所附属医院，开设了33个专科专业。

Located in Changde City, Hunan Province, which is known as "the city in the Peach Blossom Land", the college has 718 full-time teachers, including 32 with senior professional titles and 182 with associate senior professional titles. There are 12,000 students on campus, with 269 on-campus professional training rooms and 175 off-campus training bases. The nursing professional training base is listed as a vocational education training base supported by the central finance. The college focuses on higher vocational and technical education, with eight teaching departments including Nursing Department, Medical Department, Pharmacy Department, an Education College, two affiliated hospitals, and offers 33 specialized majors.

学院在2006年教育部人才培养工作水平评估中获优秀等级，是国家护理专业技能型紧缺人才培养基地、国家建造师考前培训基地、常德市高技能人才培训基地。学院秉承“育人为本、崇实重用”的办学理念和“砺志、笃学、厚德、创新”的校训，毕业生就业率一直保持在94%以上。

The college was awarded the excellent grade in the talent training level evaluation by the Ministry of Education in 2006, and is a national training base for skilled and shortage talents in nursing, a national pre-examination training base for constructors, and a high-skilled talent training base in Changde City. Adhering to the school-running philosophy of "education-oriented, emphasizing practice and application" and the school motto of "Strengthening Aspiration, Studying Diligently, Virtue and Innovation", the employment rate of graduates has remained above 94%.
