青岛黄海学院是一所民办普通本科院校，其前身为1996年建立的青岛经济技术开发区黄海职工培训学校，2003年经山东省人民政府批准成为高等职业院校，2011年经教育部批准升格为普通本科高校。2017年通过教育部普通高等学校本科教学工作合格评估，2022年获批山东省应用型本科高校建设支持单位，2023年获批山东省智慧教育示范校创建单位。围绕地方经济社会发展，着力培养高素质应用型人才，努力建设国内先进、省内一流的民办高水平应用型大学。

Qingdao Huanghai University is a private ordinary undergraduate college. Its predecessor was Qingdao Economic and Technological Development Zone Huanghai Vocational Training School established in 1996. In 2003, it was approved by the People's Government of Shandong Province to become a higher vocational college, and in 2011, it was upgraded to an ordinary undergraduate university with the approval of the Ministry of Education. In 2017, it passed the qualification assessment of undergraduate teaching work in ordinary colleges and universities by the Ministry of Education. In 2022, it was approved as a support unit for the construction of applied undergraduate colleges in Shandong Province, and in 2023, it was approved as a demonstration school for smart education in Shandong Province. Focusing on the economic and social development of the local area, the university strives to cultivate high-quality applied talents and build a domestically advanced and first-class private high-level applied university in the province.

学校类型定位为地方性、应用型、开放式普通本科高校；办学层次定位以普通本科教育为主，兼办高等职业教育，适时开展研究生教育；服务面向定位植根新区，立足青岛，面向山东，辐射全国，重点服务区域经济社会发展；学科专业定位构建工学、经济、管理、艺术、教育、文学、医（理）学等学科专业协调发展，适应地方经济与社会发展的学科专业体系；人才培养定位培养适应区域经济社会发展需要、理论基础实、专业能力强，具有社会责任感、国际视野和创新创业潜质的高素质应用型人才。

Its educational level is positioned to focus on ordinary undergraduate education, concurrently run higher vocational education, and carry out postgraduate education in due course. Its service orientation is rooted in the new area, based in Qingdao, facing Shandong, radiating the whole country, and focusing on serving regional economic and social development. The discipline and professional positioning is to build a disciplinary and professional system that coordinates the development of engineering, economics, management, art, education, literature, medicine (science) and other disciplines and adapts to local economic and social development. 学校占地面积129.20万平方米，建筑面积99.38万平方米；教学科研仪器设备总值2.25亿元，馆藏纸质图书221.84万册，电子图书217.07万册。现设16个教学单位，开设46个本科专业，普通全日制在校生33413人，其中本科生20286人，占比60.71%。学校教师总数1762人，其中专任教师1459人，专任教师中硕博学位教师占比91.57%，高级职称占比37.35%，双师型教师占比51.13%，拥有国家、省市级人才57人次。历经二十九年办学历程和十四年本科教育探索实践，累计为社会培养了18万余名应用型和技能型人才。

The university covers an area of 1.292 million square meters, with a building area of 993,800 square meters. The total value of teaching and research instruments and equipment is 225 million yuan, with 2.2184 million paper books and 2.1707 million e-books in the library. It currently has 16 teaching units, offering 46 undergraduate majors, with 33,413 full-time students, including 20,286 undergraduates, accounting for 60.71%. The total number of teachers in the university is 1,762, including 1,459 full-time teachers. Among the full-time teachers, 91.57% have master's or doctoral degrees, 37.35% have senior professional titles, and 51.13% are double-qualified teachers. There are 57 national, provincial and municipal talents. After 29 years of school-running history and 14 years of undergraduate education exploration and practice, it has cultivated more than 180,000 applied and skilled talents for the society.

学校拥有国家级一流本科专业建设点1个、省级一流本科专业建设点7个，国家级一流本科课程1门、省级一流本科课程20门，获省级教学成果奖12项，获批国家自然科学基金、国家艺术基金、教育部人文社科项目3项，山东省自然科学基金、社科规划等省部级项目32项。荣获全国先进社会组织、首届黄炎培优秀学校、山东省先进基层党组织等多项荣誉称号。
