广东职业技术学院是由广东省人民政府举办的全日制普通高等职业院校，行政主管部门是广东省教育厅。其前身为广东省纺织工业学校，筹建于1984年，1985年正式招生，1993年被评为省级重点中专学校，2000年被评为国家级重点中专学校，2001年升格为广东纺织职业技术学院。2012年，经广东省人民政府批准，学校更名为广东职业技术学院。

Guangdong Polytechnic is a full-time public higher vocational college sponsored by the People's Government of Guangdong Province, with its administrative department being the Department of Education of Guangdong Province. Its predecessor was Guangdong Textile Industry School, which was planned in 1984, officially enrolled students in 1985, was rated as a provincial key secondary school in 1993, a national key secondary school in 2000, and was upgraded to Guangdong Textile Polytechnic in 2001. In 2012, with the approval of the People's Government of Guangdong Province, the school was renamed Guangdong Polytechnic.

学校现有禅城、高明、南海三个校区，校园总面积1200多亩，固定资产总值约超过12亿元，图书馆各类藏书丰富。学校是一所以工为主，涵盖文、理、艺术等较全面专业体系的高等职业院校，是省高端技能型专门人才培养的重要基地。

The school currently has three campuses: Chancheng, Gaoming, and Nanhai, with a total campus area of over 1,200 mu, a total fixed asset value of more than 1.2 billion yuan, and a rich collection of books in the library. It is a higher vocational college with engineering as the main focus, covering a comprehensive professional system including liberal arts, science, and art, and is an important base for cultivating high-end skilled professionals in the province.
