怀化职业技术学院是一所全日制公办普通高等职业院校，由湖南省安江农业学校与怀化机电工程学校于2003年合并组建而成，办学始于1939年，实行湖南省农业农村厅与怀化市人民政府厅市共建、市管为主的管理体制。著名科学家、共和国勋章获得者、中国工程院院士袁隆平曾在校工作和生活37年，并长期担任名誉院长。

Huaihua Vocational and Technical College is a full-time public higher vocational college, established in 2003 through the merger of Hunan Anjiang Agricultural School and Huaihua Mechanical and Electrical Engineering School. Its educational history dates back to 1939, and it operates under the management system of co-construction by Hunan Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and Huaihua Municipal People's Government, with municipal management as the mainstay. The renowned scientist, Republic Medal winner, and academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Yuan Longping, worked and lived at the college for 37 years and served as honorary president for a long time.

学院是杂交水稻发源地，国家首批特等发明奖获得单位，全国重点文物保护单位、教育部人才培养水平评估优秀院校、湖南省示范性（骨干）高职院校、湖南省楚怡高水平高职学校建设单位。现有怀化和安江两个校区，占地面积1134亩，开设32个高职大专专业和1个本科专业，面向全国14个省市区招生，学生规模11700余人。

The college is the birthplace of hybrid rice and a recipient of the first national special invention award. It is a national key cultural relics protection unit, an excellent college in the talent training level evaluation by the Ministry of Education, a model (backbone) higher vocational college in Hunan Province, and a construction unit of Hunan Chuyi High-level Vocational School. It has two campuses in Huaihua and Anjiang, covering an area of 1134 mu, offering 32 higher vocational college programs and 1 undergraduate program, enrolling students from 14 provinces and cities across the country, with a student population of over 11,700.
