Hunan Mechanical and Electrical Polytechnic is located in Changsha, Hunan Province. It is a public technical college founded in 1974, covering an area of 600 mu, with its address at No. 359, Section 1, North Wanjiali Road, Changsha City, Hunan Province. As a Class A construction unit of Hunan Chuyi High-level Vocational School, the college upholds the school motto of "Virtue and Skills, Self-improvement", promotes the school spirit of "Unity, Diligence, Seeking Truth, Innovation" and the mechanical and electrical spirit of "Hard Work, Courage to Explore, Dedication to Work, and Selfless Devotion". 学校办学历史悠久，历经湖南拖拉机制造厂技工学校、湖南省机械工业局津市技工学校、湖南包装食品机械学校、湖南机电学校等发展阶段，2002年经湖南省人民政府批准并经教育部备案正式成立。经过50多年发展，学校已成为湖南省示范性高职院校、全国机械行业骨干职业院校、全国黄炎培职业教育优秀学校，拥有国家级职业教育“双师型”教师培训基地、国家级示范性职教集团、国家级众创空间等多个国家级项目，开设机械制造及自动化、机电一体化技术、新能源汽车技术等36个全日制专科专业，建成3个湖南省楚怡A档高水平专业群。

The college has a long history, going through stages such as Hunan Tractor Factory Technical School, Jinshi Technical School of Hunan Provincial Machinery Industry Bureau, Hunan Packaging Food Machinery School, and Hunan Mechanical and Electrical School. It was formally established in 2002 with the approval of the Hunan Provincial People's Government and the record of the Ministry of Education. After more than 50 years of development, the college has become a demonstration higher vocational college in Hunan Province, a key vocational college in the national machinery industry, and an excellent school of Huang Yanpei Vocational Education in China. It has many national-level projects such as the national vocational education "Double-qualified" teacher training base, national demonstration vocational education group, and national makerspace. It offers 36 full-time specialized majors including Mechanical Manufacturing and Automation, Mechatronics Technology, and New Energy Vehicle Technology, and has built 3 Class A high-level professional groups of Hunan Chuyi.
