湖南石油化工职业技术学院是湖南省教育厅直属的全日制普通高等学校，是中南地区唯一一所全面对接石油化工行业产业集群的公办高职院校。学校坐落于有着2500多年悠久历史的文化名城——岳阳，前身为1978年成立的湖南长岭石油学校，2002年与中国石化长岭炼化公司技工学校、职工大学等合并，2003年升格为高等职业技术学院，2013年成建制移交湖南省政府管理。

Hunan Petrochemical Vocational Technology College is a full-time public higher education institution directly under the Hunan Provincial Department of Education, and the only public vocational college in Central South China fully aligned with the petrochemical industry cluster. Located in Yueyang, a cultural city with over 2,500 years of history, the college originated from Hunan Changling Petroleum School founded in 1978. It merged with Sinopec Changling Refining & Chemical Company's technical school, staff university, etc. in 2002, was upgraded to a higher vocational college in 2003, and was transferred to Hunan Provincial Government management in October 2013.

学校占地面积约440亩，校舍面积11万平方米，固定资产11553万元，教学仪器设备总值5196万元，藏书34.3万册，现有教职工400余人，在校学生9000余人。设有石化工程学院、机电工程学院等七个二级学院，开设21个专业，形成以石油化工技术、化工装备技术等为核心的4大专业群，其中石化生产与储运技术专业群为湖南省示范性特色专业群，化工设备制造与维修实训基地为省级一流特色生产性实训基地。

Covering an area of about 440 mu (293,333 square meters) with 110,000 square meters of school buildings, the college has fixed assets of 115.53 million yuan, teaching equipment worth 51.96 million yuan, and a collection of 343,000 books. It has over 400 faculty members and more than 9,000 students. The college comprises seven secondary colleges including the College of Petrochemical Engineering and College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, offering 21 majors. It has formed 4 key professional groups centered on petrochemical technology and chemical equipment technology, among which the Petrochemical Production and Storage & Transportation Technology group is a Hunan Provincial Demonstrative Characteristic Professional Group, and the Chemical Equipment Manufacturing and Maintenance Training Base is a provincial first-class characteristic productive training base.

学校坚持“五化强技、五德并育”的人才培养模式，是教育部首批现代学徒制试点高校，建有国家级应急救援演练仿真培训基地等多个高水平平台，每年为石化行业培养输送大量高素质技术技能人才，毕业生初次就业率连续多年稳定在90%以上，近三分之一进入中石化、中石油等央企就业，平均月薪位居全国高职院校前列。

Adhering to the talent cultivation model of "Five-oriented Skills Enhancement and Five Virtues Cultivation", the college is one of the first modern apprenticeship pilot colleges approved by the Ministry of Education. It has established multiple high-level platforms including a national-level emergency rescue drill simulation training base. Each year, it cultivates and输送 a large number of high-quality technical talents for the petrochemical industry. The initial employment rate of graduates has remained above 90% for many years, with nearly one-third employed by central enterprises such as Sinopec and PetroChina, and the average monthly salary ranks among the top of national vocational colleges.
