揭阳职业技术学院创建于1999年，地处全国著名侨乡、广东省历史文化名城、广东沿海经济带东翼主战场——揭阳，是经广东省人民政府批准设立、教育部备案，由揭阳市人民政府主办的公办全日制普通高等职业院校。办学以来，学校秉承“诚真、笃教、博学、致用”校训，以“立德强技，人才强校，服务地方”为办学理念，以“立足揭阳、辐射粤东、面向广东”为办学定位，奋力建设高水平有特色高职学院。

Jieyang Polytechnic was founded in 1999 and is located in Jieyang, a famous hometown of overseas Chinese, a historical and cultural city in Guangdong Province, and a major battlefield on the eastern wing of Guangdong's coastal economic belt. It is a public full-time higher vocational college approved by the People's Government of Guangdong Province, registered by the Ministry of Education, and sponsored by the People's Government of Jieyang City. Since its establishment, the college has adhered to the school motto of "Sincerity, Diligence in Teaching, Erudition, and Application", the educational philosophy of "Establishing Morality and Strengthening Skills, Strengthening the School with Talents, and Serving the Local Community", and the educational orientation of "Based in Jieyang, Radiating Eastern Guangdong, and Facing Guangdong", striving to build a high-level and distinctive vocational college.

学校占地面积577.71亩，建筑面积约13.1万平方米，全日制在校生7331人。设有10个内设管理机构、2个教辅部门及11个教学部门，现面向9个省（自治区）招生，招生专业37个。其中，药学、小学英语教育、宝玉石鉴定与加工专业分别与岭南师范学院、广州理工学院、广州城市理工学院开展三二分段专升本协同育人试点工作。建校以来，已向社会输送近5万名高素质技术技能人才，毕业生普遍受到用人单位欢迎。

The college covers an area of 577.71 mu (about 38.51 hectares) with a building area of approximately 131,000 square meters and 7,331 full-time students. It has 10 internal management institutions, 2 teaching auxiliary departments, and 11 teaching departments. Currently, it enrolls students from 9 provinces (autonomous regions) with 37 enrollment majors. Among them, the majors of Pharmacy, Primary School English Education, and Gem Identification and Processing have carried out the "3+2" segmented undergraduate collaborative education pilot program with Lingnan Normal University, Guangzhou University of Technology, and Guangzhou City University of Technology respectively. Since its establishment, the college has cultivated nearly 50,000 high-quality technical and skilled talents for the society, and the graduates are generally well-received by employers.

学校现有教职工468人，其中正高级职称5人，副高级职称90人，双师型教师183人。拥有国家级实训基地1个，省级重点专业1个，省级品牌专业立项建设2个，省级专业群立项建设1个；获国家级职业教育规划教材1项，省级精品课程4门，省级教学成果奖1项。先后荣获“国家节约型公共机构示范单位”“广东省文明单位”“广东省绿色学校”等荣誉称号，古琴艺术项目被列为揭阳市第七批市级非物质文化遗产代表性项目名录。

The college has 468 faculty members, including 5 with senior professional titles, 90 with associate senior professional titles, and 183 "double-qualified" teachers. It has 1 national-level training base, 1 provincial key major, 2 provincial brand majors under construction, and 1 provincial professional group under construction. It has won 1 national vocational education planning textbook, 4 provincial excellent courses, and 1 provincial teaching achievement award. It has successively been awarded honors such as "National Model Unit of Economical Public Institutions", "Guangdong Civilized Unit", and "Guangdong Green School". The Guqin art program has been listed in the seventh batch of representative projects of Jieyang municipal intangible cultural heritage.
