民办四川天一学院创建于1991年，1994年经原国家教育委员会批准为独立设置的全日制专科层次高等学校，成为全国首批（7所）、西南地区第一所纳入国家普通高等教育序列的民办高校。学校秉承“明德、精业、求实、创新”的校训，以服务区域经济发展为宗旨，致力于培养适应社会经济发展需要的高素质技术技能人才。

Sichuan Tianyi College was founded in 1991 and approved by the former State Education Commission in 1994 as an independent full-time college, becoming one of the first seven private colleges in China and the first in Southwest China to be included in the national general higher education system. Adhering to the school motto of "Virtue, Proficiency, Practicality, Innovation", the college aims to serve regional economic development and is committed to cultivating high-quality technical and skilled talents needed for social and economic development.

学校现有德阳绵竹校区，占地面积1230余亩，建筑面积40余万平方米，师生近两万名。设有健康、体育旅游、数字媒体与文化创意、财经商贸、城镇建设五大专业集群，开设护理、康复治疗技术、计算机应用技术、建筑工程技术等47个专业，其中护理、建筑工程技术等为省级重点专业。图书馆馆藏图书137万余册，实训设备总值达1亿元，建有12个校内实训基地和100余家校企合作单位，双师型教师占比超过60%。

The college currently has its campus in Mianzhu, Deyang, covering an area of over 1,230 mu with a building area of more than 400,000 square meters, and nearly 20,000 teachers and students. It has five major professional clusters: Health, Sports and Tourism, Digital Media and Cultural Creativity, Finance and Business, and Urban Construction, offering 47 majors including Nursing, Rehabilitation Therapy Technology, Computer Application Technology, and Architectural Engineering Technology, among which Nursing and Architectural Engineering Technology are provincial key majors. The library has a collection of over 1.37 million books, with training equipment worth 100 million yuan, 12 on-campus training bases and more than 100 school-enterprise cooperation units, and over 60% of the teachers are double-qualified.

学校先后荣获“中国十大优秀民办高校”“全国民办教育先进集体”“四川省普通高等学校毕业生就业工作先进单位”等荣誉称号，就业率常年保持在95%以上，是一所特色鲜明、办学水平领先的综合性民办高职院校。
