西安电力高等专科学校前身是创建于1953年的西安电力学校，1980年被教育部确立为全国重点中等专业学校，1994年升格为大专，2007年教育部高职高专人才培养工作水平评估优秀，2008年成为陕西省示范性高等职业院校建设计划项目单位。学校承担着国家电网公司、国网陕西公司人才建设和普通高等职业教育的双重职责，是西北地区唯一一所电力类高等职业院校，享有“西北电力黄埔”美誉。

Xi'an Electric Power College was formerly Xi'an Electric Power School founded in 1953. It was designated as a national key secondary specialized school by the Ministry of Education in 1980, upgraded to a junior college in 1994, awarded Excellent in the Ministry of Education's Higher Vocational Talent Training Evaluation in 2007, and became a Shaanxi Provincial Demonstrative Higher Vocational College Construction Project Unit in 2008. The college undertakes dual responsibilities of talent development for State Grid Corporation and State Grid Shaanxi Electric Power Company, as well as general higher vocational education. It is the only electric power vocational college in Northwest China, known as the "Huangpu of Northwest Electric Power".

学校总占地404.40亩，教学校舍总建筑面积16.35万平方米，拥有电网运行、电力营销、继电保护、变电检修等153个实训（实验）室，具有国家人力资源和社会保障部授权的100个电力行业特有工种、陕西省人力资源和社会保障厅授权的92个工种技能鉴定资质。近年来，学校围绕国家政策与国家电网公司发展战略，以服务地方经济社会发展和电网事业发展为使命，以创建特色鲜明、国内一流高等职业院校为目标，突出“根植电力，校企交融共育人”的办学特色，创新校企合作人才培养模式，完善基于工作过程或典型工作任务的课程体系。

The college covers a total area of 404.40 mu with 163,500 square meters of teaching buildings. It has 153 training laboratories for power grid operation, power marketing, relay protection, substation maintenance, etc., and holds qualification for skill appraisal of 100 electric power industry-specific jobs authorized by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, and 92 jobs authorized by Shaanxi Provincial Department of Human Resources and Social Security. In recent years, centering on national policies and State Grid Corporation's development strategy, the college takes serving local economic and social development and power grid industry as its mission, aiming to build a distinctive, first-class domestic higher vocational college. It highlights the school-running feature of "rooted in electric power, integrating school-enterprise education", innovates school-enterprise cooperative talent training models, and improves curriculum systems based on work processes or typical tasks.

学校9个专业被评为省级重点专业，4个专业被列入省级一流专业培育项目，8门课程被评为省级精品课程，3个教学团队被确定为陕西普通高等学校教学团队，先后有6名教师被评为陕西省普通高等学校教学名师，1名教师被评为陕西省教书育人楷模，1名教师被评为陕西省高等教育师德标兵。学生多次在全国大学生数学建模竞赛、电子设计大赛、中澳合作办学技能竞赛等大赛中获奖。学校办学成果得到全国电力行业、国家电网公司系统和社会各界的高度认可，陆续成为国网陕西省电力有限公司培训中心、国家电网公司技术学院西安分院等机构依托单位，高考录取分数线连年位居陕西省高职高专前列，毕业生就业率亦名列前茅，为国家电力事业发展输送了数以万计的优秀员工。

Nine of its majors are rated as provincial key majors, four included in provincial first-class major cultivation projects, eight courses as provincial excellent courses, and three teaching teams designated as Shaanxi Provincial College Teaching Teams. Six teachers have been awarded Shaanxi Provincial College Teaching Masters, one as Shaanxi Provincial Model Teacher, and one as Shaanxi Provincial Higher Education Ethics Model. Students have won awards in National College Student Mathematical Modeling Competition, Electronic Design Competition, Sino-Australian Cooperative Education Skills Competition, etc. The college's achievements are highly recognized by the national electric power industry, State Grid system and society. It has successively become the supporting unit for Training Center of State Grid Shaanxi Electric Power Co., Ltd. and Xi'an Branch of State Grid Technology College. Its college entrance examination admission scores have ranked among the top in Shaanxi's higher vocational colleges for years, with graduate employment rate also ranking high, having cultivated tens of thousands of outstanding employees for national electric power industry development.
