新疆轻工职业技术学院前身是1958年创办的乌鲁木齐纺织工业学校，2000年成为自治区首批高职院校，隶属于自治区工业和信息化厅。学校先后入选国家百所骨干示范高职院校、国家优质高等职业学校、国家“双高计划”高水平专业群建设单位，获批全国首批现代学徒制试点院校、首批职业院校数字校园建设试点学校等多项国家级荣誉，是自治区第二产业职教园区理事长单位。

Xinjiang Light Industry Vocational and Technical College originated from Urumqi Textile Industry School founded in 1958. In 2000, it became one of the first higher vocational colleges in the autonomous region, affiliated to the Department of Industry and Information Technology of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. The college has been successively selected as a National Top 100 Key Demonstrative Higher Vocational College, a National High-Quality Higher Vocational School, and a construction unit of the high-level professional group of the National "Double High Plan". It has also been approved as one of the first national pilot colleges for modern apprenticeship system and the first batch of pilot schools for digital campus construction in vocational colleges, and is the chairman unit of the Vocational Education Park for the Secondary Industry in the autonomous region.

学校主体位于乌鲁木齐市米东区，校园绿荫葱茏、风景秀丽。设有党政管理机构14个，教学教辅机构17个，拥有专业55个，涵盖理学、工学、管理学等多个学科门类，面向19个省、市、自治区招生。学校秉持“质量立校、人才强校、开放兴校、文化厚校”的办学理念，凝铸“厚德强技 砺行致远”的校训，致力于培养爱国爱疆、德智体美劳全面发展的高层次技术技能应用型人才。

The main campus of the college is located in Midong District, Urumqi, with a lush and beautiful environment. It has 14 party and government management institutions, 17 teaching and auxiliary institutions, and 55 majors covering multiple disciplines such as science, engineering, and management, enrolling students from 19 provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions.
