北京农学院前身为1956年创建的河北省通县农业学校，历经北京农业劳动大学等发展阶段，1978年经国务院批准更名为北京农学院。作为北京市属唯一农林本科院校，学校现有师生员工1万余名，总占地面积1000余亩，建有千亩农场、万亩林场，形成"一校三园"的办学格局。设有11个二级学院和3个教学部，35个本科专业，11个一级学科硕士点，其中国家级特色专业3个、国家级一流本科专业建设点4个，园艺学为北京高校高精尖建设学科。

Beijing University of Agriculture (BUA) traces its roots to Tongxian Agricultural School of Hebei Province founded in 1956. After evolving through stages including Beijing Agricultural Labor University, it was renamed to its current title with State Council approval in 1978. As Beijing's only municipal agricultural university, BUA hosts over 10,000 faculty, staff and students across 1,000+ mu campus area, featuring a thousand-mu farm and ten-thousand-mu forestry base. The university comprises 11 colleges, 3 teaching departments, 35 undergraduate programs and 11 first-level discipline master's programs, including 3 national characteristic specialties, 4 national first-class undergraduate program construction sites, with Horticulture as Beijing's high-precision discipline.

学校秉承"厚德笃行，博学尚农"校训，坚持"以农为本，唯实求新"办学理念，形成都市型现代农林教育特色。拥有国家级人才13人次，省部级人才180人次，现代园艺学教师团队获评全国高校黄大年式教师团队。主持国家级科研项目900余项，获国家科技进步奖等100余项奖励，建有26个国家级和省部级科研平台。先后荣获全国文明单位、北京市花园式单位等称号，是首都都市型现代农业人才培养与技术服务的重要基地。

Adhering to the motto "Virtue, Practice, Erudition, Agriculture" and the philosophy "Agriculture-oriented, Pragmatism and Innovation", BUA has developed distinctive urban modern agricultural education. The university boasts 13 national-level talents, 180 provincial-level talents, and its Modern Horticulture Teaching Team was honored as a National Huang Danian-style Teacher Team. BUA has undertaken over 900 national-level research projects, won more than 100 awards including National Science and Technology Progress Award, and established 26 national/provincial research platforms. It has been awarded titles like National Civilized Unit and Beijing Garden-style Unit, serving as a key base for urban modern agricultural talent cultivation and technical services in the capital.
