常州大学是江苏省属重点大学，创办于1978年，前身为南京化工学院无锡分院、常州分院。学校以工科为特色，工、理、管、经、文、法、艺、教等多学科协调发展，在石油化工、能源材料、安全工程等领域形成了鲜明优势。学校现有科教城、西太湖两个校区，占地2000余亩，全日制本科生、研究生、留学生等各类在校生3万余人。

Changzhou University is a key university under the jurisdiction of Jiangsu Province, founded in 1978, formerly known as Wuxi Branch and Changzhou Branch of Nanjing Institute of Chemical Technology. With engineering as its characteristic, the university develops coordinately multiple disciplines including engineering, science, management, economics, literature, law, art, and education, and has formed distinct advantages in fields such as petrochemical engineering, energy materials, and safety engineering. The university currently has two campuses, Kejiao City and West Taihu Lake, covering an area of more than 2000 mu, with over 30,000 students of various types including full-time undergraduates, postgraduates, and international students.

学校坚持立德树人根本任务，大力推进人才培养、科学研究、社会服务、文化传承创新和国际交流合作。拥有国家级一流本科专业建设点20个，国家级特色专业3个，通过工程教育专业认证（评估）专业12个。建有国家级重点实验室培育基地、国家级工程技术研究中心等高水平科研平台，近五年承担国家级科研项目300余项，获国家科技进步奖、国家技术发明奖等省部级以上科研奖励100余项。

The university adheres to the fundamental task of cultivating virtues and talents, and vigorously promotes talent cultivation, scientific research, social service, cultural inheritance and innovation, and international exchanges and cooperation. It has 20 national first-class undergraduate major construction sites, 3 national characteristic majors, and 12 majors that have passed engineering education professional certification (evaluation). It has built high-level scientific research platforms such as a national key laboratory cultivation base and a national engineering technology research center. In the past five years, it has undertaken more than 300 national-level scientific research projects and won more than 100 scientific research awards above the provincial and ministerial level, including the National Science and Technology Progress Award and the National Technology Invention Award.
