重庆财经学院（原重庆工商大学融智学院）成立于2001年，2003年经教育部批准为全日制普通本科层次的独立学院，2011年增列为学士学位授权单位，2016年获批为重庆市第二批整体向应用型转变试点高校。2020年经教育部批准转设为独立设置的非营利性民办普通本科高等学校，2021年获批为重庆市新增硕士学位授予立项建设单位。

Chongqing University of Finance and Economics (formerly Rongzhi College of Chongqing Technology and Business University) was founded in 2001. In 2003, it was approved by the Ministry of Education as a full-time ordinary undergraduate independent college. In 2011, it was upgraded to a bachelor's degree-granting unit. In 2016, it was approved as the second batch of pilot universities in Chongqing to transform into application-oriented universities. In 2020, it was approved by the Ministry of Education to be transformed into an independent non-profit private ordinary undergraduate institution of higher learning, and in 2021, it was approved as a project construction unit for granting master's degrees in Chongqing.

学校以习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想为指导，全面贯彻党的教育方针，秉承“做产教融合先锋，建新型财经名校”的办学愿景，遵循“夯实基础、以人为本，融合产教、追求卓越”的办学理念，践行“明德、健体、博学、笃行”校训。学校设有11个教学单位，涵盖经济学、管理学、工学、文学和艺术学5个学科门类，41个全日制本科专业，其中金融学和会计学为国家一流专业建设点，7个专业为重庆市一流专业建设项目，5个专业为重庆市特色专业。

Guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, the university fully implements the Party's educational policy, adheres to the vision of "being a pioneer in the integration of industry and education and building a new famous university of finance and economics", follows the school-running philosophy of "consolidating the foundation, putting people first, integrating industry and education, and pursuing excellence", and practices the school motto of "Virtue, Health, Erudition and Practice". The university has 11 teaching units, covering 5 disciplines including economics, management, engineering, literature and art, with 41 full-time undergraduate majors. Among them, Finance and Accounting are national first-class professional construction sites, 7 majors are Chongqing first-class professional construction projects, and 5 majors are Chongqing characteristic majors.
