重庆电力高等专科学校是经教育部批准设立，由重庆市人民政府举办，重庆市教育委员会主管，重庆市教育委员会与国网重庆市电力公司共建的全日制普通高等专科学校。学校前身重庆电气工业学校于1953年5月经中央燃料工业部批准成立，后更名为重庆电力工业学校，是全国首批七所部属电力中等专业学校之一。1953年9月更名为重庆动力学校，1958年更名为重庆电力学校，1980年和1994年两次被确定为全国重点中等专业学校，1995年经国家教委批准升格为高等专科学校，是西南地区唯一的电力类高等专科学校。

Chongqing Electric Power College is a full-time public higher vocational college approved by the Ministry of Education, sponsored by the Chongqing Municipal People's Government, administered by the Chongqing Municipal Education Commission, and co-constructed by the Chongqing Municipal Education Commission and State Grid Chongqing Electric Power Company. The predecessor of the college, Chongqing Electrical Industry School, was founded in May 1953 with the approval of the Central Fuel Industry Ministry. Later renamed Chongqing Electric Power Industry School, it was one of the first seven ministry-affiliated electrical secondary professional schools in China. In September 1953, it was renamed Chongqing Power School, and in 1958, it was renamed Chongqing Electric Power School. It was designated as a national key secondary professional school twice in 1980 and 1994. In 1995, it was upgraded to a higher vocational college with the approval of the State Education Commission, becoming the only electric power vocational college in Southwest China.

学校是中国特色高水平高职学校和专业建设计划建设单位、全国首批高职高专人才培养工作水平评估优秀学校、国家骨干高职院校、重庆市高水平高职学校和专业群建设计划建设单位。设有九龙坡和潼南2个校区，占地面积共1466亩，开设有34个招生专业，涵盖能源动力与材料、装备制造、电子信息等专业大类，现有在校生近15000人。学校坚持深化产教融合、校企合作，与国家电网、南方电网等企业联合建立实习实训基地130个，建成实验实训场所192个，其新能源发电智能微电网实训中心等处于国内同类院校领先地位。

The college is a construction unit of the "Double High-Level" Vocational Schools and Professional Groups Construction Plan, an excellent school in the first national higher vocational talent training evaluation, a national backbone higher vocational college, and a construction unit of Chongqing Municipal High-Level Vocational Schools and Professional Groups Construction Plan. It has two campuses in Jiulongpo and Tongnan, covering a total area of 1466 mu, offering 34 enrollment majors covering energy power and materials, equipment manufacturing, electronic information and other professional categories, with nearly 15,000 students. The college adheres to deepening industry-education integration and school-enterprise cooperation, has established 130 internship and training bases with State Grid, China Southern Power Grid and other enterprises, and built 192 experimental and training sites, among which the new energy power generation intelligent microgrid training center is in the leading position among domestic similar colleges.
