重庆师范大学是一所具有鲜明教师教育特色、多学科协调发展的综合性师范大学。学校创办于1954年，历经重庆师范专科学校、重庆师范学院等发展阶段，2003年更名为重庆师范大学。学校现有大学城、沙坪坝、北碚三个校区，占地2688亩，拥有17个二级学院，覆盖哲学、经济学、法学、教育学、文学、历史学、理学、工学、管理学、艺术学等10个学科门类，形成了师范教育和非师范教育并存、基础学科与应用学科协调发展的办学格局。

Chongqing Normal University is a comprehensive normal university with distinct characteristics in teacher education and coordinated development of multiple disciplines. Founded in 1954, the university has gone through stages of development such as Chongqing Normal College and Chongqing Teachers College, and was renamed Chongqing Normal University in 2003. The university currently has three campuses in University Town, Shapingba, and Beibei, covering an area of 2,688 mu. It has 17 secondary colleges, covering 10 disciplines including philosophy, economics, law, education, literature, history, science, engineering, management, and art, forming a school-running pattern where normal education and non-normal education coexist, and basic disciplines and applied disciplines develop in a coordinated manner.

学校始终坚持立德树人根本任务，以培养高素质应用型人才为目标，拥有国家级一流本科专业建设点23个，省级一流本科专业建设点19个，国家级特色专业4个，国家级精品课程4门。近年来，学校在科学研究、社会服务、文化传承创新等方面取得显著成绩，先后获得国家级教学成果奖、全国创新创业典型经验高校等荣誉称号，为区域经济社会发展和教育事业进步作出了重要贡献。
