重庆文理学院是重庆市人民政府主办的全日制普通本科高等学校，是全国脱贫攻坚先进集体、首批教育部依法治校示范校、全国教育网络示范单位、国家级语言文字规范化示范校、全国校园文化先进单位、重庆市园林式单位，是重庆市高水平新工科建设高校，首批国家级创新创业学院建设单位。2021年学校获批硕士学位授予单位。学校前身重庆师范高等专科学校和渝州教育学院分别创办于1976年和1972年，2001年5月两校合并组建渝西学院，2005年4月更名为重庆文理学院。

Chongqing University of Arts and Sciences is a full-time ordinary undergraduate institution sponsored by the Chongqing Municipal People's Government. It is an Advanced Collective in National Poverty Alleviation, one of the first Model Universities for Running Schools in Accordance with Law by the Ministry of Education, a National Model Unit for Educational Networks, a National Model School for Standardized Language and Character Use, an Advanced National Unit for Campus Culture, a Garden-style Unit in Chongqing, a Chongqing High-level New Engineering Construction University, and one of the first national-level innovation and entrepreneurship college construction units. In 2021, the university was approved as a master's degree-granting unit. Its predecessors, Chongqing Normal College and Yuzhou Institute of Education, were founded in 1976 and 1972 respectively. In May 2001, the two schools merged to form Yuxi University, and in April 2005, it was renamed Chongqing University of Arts and Sciences.

学校坐落在重庆市永川区，现有红河、星湖两个校区，距离重庆主城区63公里，交通十分便利，成渝、九永等高速，成渝、渝昆高铁通达永川。学校现有教职工1500余人，其中正高级职称人员180余人、副高级职称人员360余人；具有博士学位教师400余人，兼职博士生导师12人，专兼职硕士生导师409人；外聘专家200余人（含外籍专家12人）；万人计划国家级人才2人，百千万人才工程国家级人选1人，国家有突出贡献的中青年专家1人，享受国务院政府特殊津贴专家2人，科技部、教育部、重庆市等省部级人才90余人，全国优秀教师和优秀教育工作者5人。

The university is located in Yongchuan District, Chongqing, with two campuses: Honghe and Xinghu. It is 63 kilometers away from the main urban area of Chongqing, with convenient transportation. Chengdu-Chongqing, Jiuyong and other expressways, as well as Chengdu-Chongqing and Chongqing-Kunming high-speed railways, reach Yongchuan. The university currently has more than 1,500 faculty members, including over 180 with senior professional titles, more than 360 with associate senior professional titles; over 400 teachers with doctoral degrees, 12 part-time doctoral supervisors, 409 full-time and part-time master supervisors; more than 200 external experts (including 12 foreign experts); 2 national-level talents of the "Ten Thousand Talents Program", 1 national candidate of the "Hundred, Thousand and Ten Thousand Talents Project", 1 national outstanding young and middle-aged expert, 2 experts enjoying special government allowances from the State Council, more than 90 provincial and ministerial-level talents from the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Education, Chongqing Municipality, etc., and 5 national excellent teachers and excellent educators.

学校现有15个二级学院，66个本科专业，10个硕士学位授予点，涵盖文学、理学、工学、管理学、教育学、农学、经济学等10个学科门类，实现向多科性、应用型、综合性成功转型。学校在校学生人数2.3万余人，有国家一流本科专业建设点9个、国家一流本科课程4门、国家级精品课程2门、省级重点学科7个、省级一流本科专业建设点20个。学校获得国家级教学成果奖5项、省级教学成果奖54项，获得国家级、省部级教育教学改革和高等教育质量工程项目900余项。

The university currently has 15 secondary colleges, 66 undergraduate majors, and 10 master's degree programs, covering 10 disciplines including literature, science, engineering, management, education, agriculture, and economics, successfully transforming into a multidisciplinary, application-oriented and comprehensive university. There are more than 23,000 students on campus, with 9 national first-class undergraduate major construction sites, 4 national first-class undergraduate courses, 2 national excellent courses, 7 provincial key disciplines, and 20 provincial first-class undergraduate major construction sites. The university has won 5 national teaching achievement awards, 54 provincial teaching achievement awards, and more than 900 national and provincial educational teaching reform and higher education quality engineering projects.

学校紧盯四个面向，加强科学技术研究，推动科技成果转化，服务经济社会发展。目前，拥有国家级科研平台3个，省部级科研平台27个、博士后科研工作站1个。近年来，在《Nature》《Cell》发表重要研究成果，材料科学、化学、工程学3个学科进入ESI全球排名前1%，具有自主知识产权的PDE5抑制剂国际一类新药以3000万元成功转化，抗癌新药PZ-1片获国家药监局颁发的一类药物临床试验批件并以4800万元成功转让，纳米银线系列专利、脱毒生姜连作技术等得到推广应用。

The university focuses on the "Four Orientations", strengthens scientific and technological research, promotes the transformation of scientific and technological achievements, and serves economic and social development. At present, it has 3 national-level scientific research platforms, 27 provincial and ministerial-level scientific research platforms, and 1 post-doctoral research workstation. In recent years, important research results have been published in Nature and Cell. Three disciplines - Materials Science, Chemistry, and Engineering - have entered the top 1% of ESI global rankings. The international class I new drug PDE5 inhibitor with independent intellectual property rights has been successfully transformed with 30 million yuan. The anti-cancer new drug PZ-1 tablet has obtained the class I drug clinical trial approval issued by the State Drug Administration and has been successfully transferred with 48 million yuan. The nano-silver wire series patents and virus-free ginger continuous cropping technology have been promoted and applied.
