重庆科技大学是一所全日制公办普通本科院校，由重庆市人民政府与中国石油天然气集团公司、中国石油化工集团公司、中国海洋石油集团有限公司共建，以工为主，以石油与化工、冶金与材料、机械与电子、安全与环保为特色，理、工、经、管、文、法、艺等多学科协调发展，是国家“中西部高校基础能力建设工程”支持高校、全国应用技术大学（学院）联盟副理事长单位、重庆市属高校转型发展联盟理事长单位。

Chongqing University of Science and Technology is a full-time public ordinary undergraduate university, co-built by the People's Government of Chongqing Municipality, China National Petroleum Corporation, China Petrochemical Corporation, and China National Offshore Oil Corporation. It focuses on engineering, with characteristics in petroleum and chemical engineering, metallurgy and materials, machinery and electronics, safety and environmental protection. It also promotes the coordinated development of multiple disciplines such as science, engineering, economics, management, literature, law, and art. It is a university supported by the "Midwest University Basic Capacity Construction Project", the vice chairman unit of the National Alliance of Applied Technology Universities (Colleges), and the chairman unit of the Chongqing Municipal University Transformation and Development Alliance.

学校办学历史可追溯至1951年创办的西南石油工业专科学校和1953年创办的重庆建筑工程学校。2004年5月，重庆工业高等专科学校和重庆石油高等专科学校合并组建为重庆科技学院。2023年6月，经教育部批准，学校更名为重庆科技大学。学校现有沙坪坝、巴南两个校区，占地2500余亩，校舍建筑面积90余万平方米，教学科研仪器设备总值7.2亿元，纸质图书240万余册，电子图书180万余册。

The school's running history can be traced back to the Southwest Petroleum Industry Junior College founded in 1951 and Chongqing Construction Engineering School founded in 1953. In May 2004, Chongqing College of Industry and Chongqing College of Petroleum merged to form Chongqing University of Science and Technology. In June 2023, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, the school was renamed Chongqing University of Science and Technology. The university currently has two campuses in Shapingba and Banan, covering an area of more than 2,500 mu, with a school building area of more than 900,000 square meters. The total value of teaching and research instruments and equipment is 720 million yuan, with more than 2.4 million paper books and more than 1.8 million e-books.

学校现有全日制本科生、研究生及留学生27000余人，教职工1600余人，其中高级职称教师600余人，博士800余人。拥有国家级人才、国家“万人计划”、教育部新世纪优秀人才、重庆市“百人计划”等各类高层次人才100余人。学校设有16个二级学院，开设66个本科专业，拥有1个一级学科博士学位授权点，13个一级学科硕士学位授权点，12个硕士专业学位授权类别。

The university currently has more than 27,000 full-time undergraduates, postgraduates and international students, and more than 1,600 faculty members, including more than 600 with senior professional titles and more than 800 doctors. It has more than 100 high-level talents of various types, such as national-level talents, national "Ten Thousand Talents Program", excellent talents in the new century of the Ministry of Education, and Chongqing "Hundred Talents Program". The university has 16 secondary colleges, offering 66 undergraduate majors, with 1 first-level discipline doctoral degree authorization point, 13 first-level discipline master's degree authorization points, and 12 master's professional degree authorization categories.
