福州外语外贸学院是经教育部批准设立的全日制普通本科高校，中国民办教育协会高等教育专业委员会副理事长单位。学校前身为创办于2004年的福州外语外贸职业技术学院，2011年升格本科，2018年通过教育部普通高等学校本科教学工作合格评估，2022年获批福建省一流应用型高校培育单位、福建省硕士学位授予培育单位。

Fuzhou University of International Studies and Trade is a full-time regular undergraduate university approved by the Ministry of Education and a vice-chairman unit of the Higher Education Professional Committee of the China Association for Non-Governmental Education. The university was formerly known as Fuzhou Foreign Language and Trade Vocational and Technical College founded in 2004. It was upgraded to an undergraduate university in 2011, passed the undergraduate teaching qualification assessment of the Ministry of Education in 2018, and was approved as a cultivation unit for first-class applied universities in Fujian Province and a cultivation unit for master's degree authorization in Fujian Province in 2022.

Upholding the情怀 of the founder Mr. Wu Qinming that "education is a great love", it actively advocates the educational philosophy of "kind heart, kind words, kind deeds", vigorously promotes the school motto spirit of "integrating China and foreign countries, applying knowledge to the world" and the fine school spirit of "upholding virtue, diligent study, seeking truth, and innovation". 学校积极构建经、教、文、理、工、管、艺等多学科协调发展的办学格局，建有外国语言文学、工商管理2个省级重点学科，应用经济学、工商管理、外国语言文学、管理科学与工程4个省级应用型学科，金融、国际商务2个省级一流应用型建设高校主干学科（培育项目）。现有国家级一流专业建设点4个、省级一流专业建设点6个、省级服务产业特色专业4个、省级创新创业改革试点专业4个、省级本科高校专业综合改革试点项目2个；拥有国家级一流课程6门、省级一流课程67门；获批教育部新文科研究与实践项目1项、教育部产学合作协同育人项目78项；获批省级教改项目（含海峡两岸比较研究专项）58项、省级新工科新文科项目3个、省级现代产业学院1个、省级各类实验教学平台项目19个；获省级教学成果奖10项。

The university actively constructs a multi-disciplinary coordinated development pattern of economics, education, liberal arts, science, engineering, management, and art. It has 2 provincial key disciplines of foreign language and literature, business administration, 4 provincial applied disciplines of applied economics, business administration, foreign language and literature, management science and engineering, and 2 provincial first-class applied construction university main disciplines (cultivation projects) of finance and international business. Currently, there are 4 national first-class professional construction sites, 6 provincial first-class professional construction sites, 4 provincial service industry characteristic majors, 4 provincial innovation and entrepreneurship reform pilot majors, and 2 provincial undergraduate university professional comprehensive reform pilot projects; 6 national first-class courses and 67 provincial first-class courses; 1 Ministry of Education new liberal arts research and practice project, 78 Ministry of Education industry-university cooperation and collaborative education projects; 58 provincial educational reform projects (including cross-strait comparative research special projects), 3 provincial new engineering and new liberal arts projects, 1 provincial modern industrial college, 19 provincial experimental teaching platform projects; and 10 provincial teaching achievement awards.

学校是福建省第一所取得招收来华留学生资质的民办本科高校、第一所具备港澳台地区本科招生资质的民办高校、全国首批与台湾高校开展合作办学试点院校、福建省海外华文教育基地称号高校。先后与30多所国外高水平院校、29所港澳台高校开展合作与交流，获批中外合作办学项目1个。招收来自20个国家的留学生330人，聘任国（境）外教师97人。

The university is the first private undergraduate university in Fujian Province to obtain the qualification to enroll international students in China, the first private university with the qualification to enroll undergraduates from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, one of the first batch of pilot institutions to carry out cooperative education with Taiwan universities in China, and a university with the title of Fujian Overseas Chinese Language Education Base. It has carried out cooperation and exchanges with more than 30 foreign high-level institutions and 29 Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan universities, and has been approved for 1 Sino-foreign cooperative education project. It enrolls 330 international students from 20 countries and employs 97 foreign teachers.
