广东海洋大学是广东省人民政府和自然资源部共建的省属重点建设大学，是一所以海洋和水产为特色、多学科协调发展的综合性大学。学校的前身是创建于1935年的广东省立高级水产职业学校，历经多次调整和发展，于2005年正式更名为广东海洋大学。学校坐落于美丽的海滨城市湛江，拥有湖光校区、霞山校区、海滨校区三个校区，校园总面积达4892亩，环境优美，设施完善。

Guangdong Ocean University is a key provincial university jointly built by the People's Government of Guangdong Province and the Ministry of Natural Resources. It is a comprehensive university with marine and fishery characteristics and coordinated development of multiple disciplines. The predecessor of the university was the Guangdong Provincial Senior Vocational School of Aquatic Products founded in 1935. After many adjustments and developments, it was officially renamed Guangdong Ocean University in 2005. Located in the beautiful coastal city of Zhanjiang, the university has three campuses: Huguang Campus, Xiashan Campus and Haibin Campus, covering a total area of 4892 mu, with beautiful environment and complete facilities.

学校学科优势突出，拥有海洋科学、水产、食品科学与工程等多个省级重点学科，形成了以海洋学科为引领，理、工、农、文、经、管、法、教、艺等多学科协调发展的学科体系。学校师资力量雄厚，现有教职工2300余人，其中专任教师1600余人，具有高级职称的教师占比超过40%。学校注重人才培养质量，现有全日制本科生、研究生、留学生等各类在校生3.2万余人，毕业生就业率连续多年位居广东省高校前列。
