广东体育职业技术学院创建于1956年8月，前身是广东省体育运动学校，2003年5月经广东省人民政府批准升格为全日制高等体育职业院校，是省属唯一体育类高职院校。2020年6月，学校成建制由广东省体育局划转广东省教育厅管理。学校位于广州市天河区，设有东校区（黄村奥体路52号）和北校区（广州大道中1268号），占地面积150亩。

Guangdong Vocational and Technical College of Sports was founded in August 1956, formerly known as Guangdong Sports School. Approved by the People's Government of Guangdong Province in May 2003, it was upgraded to a full-time higher vocational college of sports, being the only provincial sports vocational college. In June 2020, the college was transferred from the Guangdong Provincial Bureau of Sports to the Guangdong Provincial Department of Education as a whole. Located in Tianhe District, Guangzhou, the college has two campuses: East Campus (No.52 Aoti Road, Huangcun) and North Campus (No.1268 Middle Guangzhou Avenue), covering an area of 150 mu.

学校以“弘扬体育精神、勤学体育知识、精练体育技能”为校训，开设社会体育、体育保健与康复、运动训练、体育运营与管理等8个专业，其中体育保健与康复专业为中央财政支持项目，竞技体育、体育运营与管理是广东省高职教育重点专业。建校以来，培养了冼东妹、傅海峰等奥运冠军及10万余名体育专业人才，为粤港澳大湾区体育事业发展提供重要支撑。

With the school motto of "Carry forward the sports spirit, diligently learn sports knowledge, and skillfully practice sports skills", the college offers 8 majors including Social Sports, Sports Health Care and Rehabilitation, Sports Training, and Sports Operation and Management. Among them, the Sports Health Care and Rehabilitation major is supported by the central finance, and Competitive Sports, Sports Operation and Management are key majors of higher vocational education in Guangdong Province. Since its establishment, the college has cultivated Olympic champions such as Xian Dongmei and Fu Haifeng, as well as more than 100,000 sports professionals, providing important support for the development of sports in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
