广州航海学院创办于1964年，是广州市人民政府管理的公办普通本科院校，是华南地区唯一一所独立建制的海事本科院校，广东省“文明校园”单位，广东省绿色学校，广东省“冲补强”计划“强特色”建设高校，广东省硕士学位授予立项建设单位，被誉为“航海家的摇篮”。学校现有黄埔、琶洲两个校区，分别坐落于海上丝绸之路的溯源地扶胥古港（黄埔校区）和海珠区新港东路（琶洲校区），校园面积约525亩，正在筹建的广州交通大学以广州航海学院为基础。

Guangzhou Maritime University, founded in 1964, is a public undergraduate institution administered by the Guangzhou Municipal People's Government. It is the only independent maritime undergraduate university in South China, recognized as a "Civilized Campus" and "Green School" in Guangdong Province. As a key institution under Guangdong's "Strengthening Features" program and a candidate for master's degree authorization, it is hailed as the "Cradle of Navigators". The university has two campuses: Huangpu Campus (near the ancient Fuxu Port, a source of the Maritime Silk Road) and Pazhou Campus (on Xingang East Road, Haizhu District), covering approximately 525 mu. It is the foundation for the proposed Guangzhou Jiaotong University.

学校以航海类专业为特色，开设35个本科专业，涵盖工学、管理学、经济学、文学、艺术学等学科门类，其中航海技术、轮机工程、交通运输等5个专业为省级一流专业建设点。拥有国家级实验教学示范中心、中央财政支持实验室等20余个高端教学平台，配备7万吨级和4万吨级教学实习船各一艘，教学科研仪器设备总值超1亿元。学校师资力量雄厚，现有专任教师410余人，高级职称占比达44%，航海类专业学生实行半军事管理，毕业生就业率连续多年保持在99%以上，为华南地区航运业输送了4万余名专业人才。

With maritime-related programs as its core strength, the university offers 35 undergraduate majors spanning engineering, management, economics, literature, and arts. Five programs, including Navigation Technology and Marine Engineering, are provincial first-class program construction sites. It boasts over 20 high-end teaching platforms such as national experimental teaching demonstration centers and central government-funded laboratories, along with two training ships (70,000 DWT and 40,000 DWT). Teaching and research equipment is valued at over 100 million yuan. The faculty comprises over 410 full-time teachers, with 44% holding senior titles. Maritime majors adopt semi-military management, and graduate employment rate has exceeded 99% for years, having cultivated over 40,000 professionals for South China's shipping industry.
