桂林旅游学院坐落在山水甲天下的国家历史文化名城桂林，创办于1985年，原名桂林旅游专科学校，1994年定名为桂林旅游高等专科学校，2015年经教育部批准升格为普通本科高等学校，2021年成为广西壮族自治区人民政府、文化和旅游部共建高校，是我国两所独立建制的全日制公办旅游本科院校之一。现有雁山、骖鸾两个校区，校园总面积125.72万平方米（1885亩），普通全日制在校生1.7万余人，教职工1045人，其中专任教师744人，高级职称教师占比37.63%，具有硕士、博士学位教师占比86.96%。

Guilin Tourism University is located in Guilin, a national historical and cultural city renowned for its world-famous landscapes. Founded in 1985 as Guilin Tourism College, it was renamed Guilin Institute of Tourism in 1994 and upgraded to a regular undergraduate institution with the approval of the Ministry of Education in 2015. In 2021, it became a university jointly built by the People's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and is one of the two full-time public tourism undergraduate institutions independently established in China. It has two campuses, Yanshan and Canluan, covering a total area of 1.2572 million square meters (1,885 mu), with over 17,000 full-time students and 1,045 faculty members, including 744 full-time teachers, among whom 37.63% have senior professional titles and 86.96% have master's or doctoral degrees.

学校现建制14个教学学院，学科涵盖管理学、经济学、文学、艺术学、工学、理学、教育学等七个学科门类，现有36个本科专业，涵盖旅游业“吃、住、行、游、购、娱”六要素及文化旅游、红色旅游、康养旅游、智慧旅游等新业态主要领域，拥有国家级一流本科专业建设点3个，自治区级一流本科专业建设点10个，国家级一流本科课程4门，国家级精品课程2门。作为联合国世界旅游组织附属成员单位，与瑞士洛桑酒店管理学院等20多所境外高校开展合作，是中国—东盟旅游教育合作的领头雁。

The university currently has 14 teaching colleges, covering seven disciplines including management, economics, literature, art, engineering, science, and education. It offers 36 undergraduate majors, covering the six elements of tourism ("food, accommodation, transportation, travel, shopping, entertainment") and major areas of new formats such as cultural tourism, red tourism, health tourism, and smart tourism. It has 3 national first-class undergraduate major construction sites, 10 autonomous region-level first-class undergraduate major construction sites, 4 national first-class undergraduate courses, and 2 national excellent courses. As an affiliate member of the United Nations World Tourism Organization, it has carried out cooperation with more than 20 overseas universities such as EHL酒店管理商学院 (formerly Swiss Hotel Management School Lausanne) and is a leader in China-ASEAN tourism education cooperation.
