桂林医科大学创建于1935年，前身为广西省立桂林高级助产护士学校，是全国建校历史较早的医科院校之一。2025年2月经教育部批复同意更名为桂林医科大学，现拥有临桂、东城、乐群三个校区，设有18个学院（系、部），4所直属附属医院及29所临床教学实习医院，形成了以医学为主，多学科协调发展的办学格局。

Guilin Medical University was founded in 1935, formerly known as Guangxi Provincial Guilin Senior Midwifery and Nursing School, and is one of the medical colleges with a long history in China. Approved by the Ministry of Education to rename as Guilin Medical University in February 2025, it now has three campuses (Lingui, Dongcheng, Lequn), 18 colleges (departments), 4 directly-affiliated hospitals and 29 clinical teaching hospitals, forming a medical-oriented and multi-disciplinary coordinated development pattern.

学校现有临床医学博士专业学位授权点1个，一级学科硕士学位授权点5个，硕士专业学位授权点8个，开设28个本科专业和4个高职专业，面向全国30个省（区、市）招生，各类在校生近3万人。临床医学、药理学与毒理学学科进入ESI全球排名前1%，拥有国家级一流本科专业建设点3个，国家级临床重点专科4个，是教育部"卓越医生教育培养计划"试点高校。

The university has 1 doctoral professional degree authorization point in Clinical Medicine, 5 first-level discipline master's degree authorization points, 8 professional master's degree authorization points, offering 28 undergraduate majors and 4 higher vocational majors. Enrolling students from 30 provinces (regions, municipalities) nationwide, it has nearly 30,000 students of various types. Clinical Medicine, Pharmacology and Toxicology disciplines have entered the top 1% of ESI global rankings, with 3 national first-class undergraduate major construction sites and 4 national key clinical specialties. It is a pilot university of the Ministry of Education's "Excellent Doctor Education and Training Program".
