甘肃中医药大学是甘肃省人民政府与国家中医药管理局共建高校，是教育部及国家中医药管理局批准的卓越医生（中医）教育培养计划改革试点高校，也是西北地区唯一一所具有博士学位授予权的中医药类高校。学校前身为1978年创立的甘肃中医学院，2015年正式更名为甘肃中医药大学，历经四十余载发展，已形成“一校四区”（和平、五里铺、定西、甘南校区）的办学格局，构建了以中医药学科为主体，多学科交叉渗透、协调发展的学科体系，为甘肃乃至西北地区培养了七万余名高层次中医药和现代医学人才。

Gansu University of Chinese Medicine is a university jointly built by the People's Government of Gansu Province and the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is a pilot university for the reform of the Excellent Doctor (Traditional Chinese Medicine) Education and Training Program approved by the Ministry of Education and the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and the only university of traditional Chinese medicine in northwest China with the right to grant doctoral degrees. Formerly known as Gansu College of Traditional Chinese Medicine founded in 1978, it was officially renamed Gansu University of Chinese Medicine in 2015. After more than 40 years of development, it has formed a school-running pattern of "one university with four campuses" (Heping, Wulipu, Dingxi, and Gannan campuses), and built a discipline system with traditional Chinese medicine as the main body, and interdisciplinary penetration and coordinated development. It has cultivated more than 70,000 high-level talents of traditional Chinese medicine and modern medicine for Gansu and even northwest China.

学校坚持“立足西部求特色发展，传承仁术重开放办学”的办学理念，现有教职工1304人，其中专任教师965人，包括国医大师2人、全国名中医6人、双聘院士4人等高层次人才。设有16个教学机构，4所直属附属医院和6所非直属附属医院，拥有国家中医药管理局重点学科15个、省级一流特色学科（A类）3个。学校以“勤奋、严谨、继承、创新”为校训，致力于中医药文化传承与创新，在藏医药人才培养、道地中药材研究等领域形成了鲜明特色，近65%的毕业生扎根甘肃，为地方医疗卫生事业和中医药产业发展提供了坚实的人才支撑。

Adhering to the school-running philosophy of "based in the west for characteristic development, inheriting medical skills and focusing on open education", the university has 1,304 faculty members, including 965 full-time teachers, including 2 National Medical Masters, 6 National Famous Chinese Medicine Doctors, and 4 double-employed academicians. It has 16 teaching institutions, 4 directly affiliated hospitals and 6 non-directly affiliated hospitals, with 15 key disciplines of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine and 3 provincial first-class characteristic disciplines (Class A). With the school motto of "Diligence, Rigor, Inheritance, Innovation", the university is committed to the inheritance and innovation of traditional Chinese medicine culture, and has formed distinctive characteristics in the fields of Tibetan medicine talent training and authentic Chinese medicinal materials research. Nearly 65% of the graduates have rooted in Gansu, providing solid talent support for the development of local medical and health undertakings and traditional Chinese medicine industry.
