广西艺术学院现为华南地区唯一一所综合性普通本科高等艺术院校，是文化和旅游部与广西壮族自治区人民政府共建高校。学校现有地处广西首府绿城南宁的南湖校区和相思湖校区，以及位于历史文化名城山水桂林的桂林校区，总占地面积611.02亩。

Guangxi Arts University is currently the only comprehensive public undergraduate art institution of higher education in South China, and a joint university co-constructed by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the People's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. The university has three campuses: Nanhu Campus and Xiangsihu Campus located in Nanning, the capital city of Guangxi known as the "Green City", and Guilin Campus situated in Guilin, a famous historical and cultural city renowned for its landscapes. The total占地面积 is 611.02 mu (approximately 407,347 square meters).

广西艺术学院前身是由我国著名音乐家满谦子先生和现代杰出画家、美术教育家徐悲鸿先生以及著名作曲家、音乐教育家吴伯超先生于1938年倡议建立的广西省会国民基础学校艺术师资训练班。1960年，升格为本科院校广西艺术学院。1990年，获批首个硕士学位授权点音乐学（民族音乐理论）。建校以来，满谦子、徐悲鸿、吴伯超、阳太阳、陈烟桥、陈良、黄独峰、朱培钧、陆华柏、李志曙等一批国内外知名的艺术家和艺术教育家执教治学、弘文励教，为学校发展奠定良好基础、积淀深厚底蕴。

The predecessor of Guangxi Arts University was the Art Teacher Training Class of Guangxi Provincial Capital National Basic School, initiated in 1938 by renowned Chinese musician Mr. Man Qianzi, prominent modern painter and art educator Mr. Xu Beihong, and famous composer and music educator Mr. Wu Bochao. In 1960, it was upgraded to a undergraduate institution named Guangxi Arts College, and in 1990, it obtained its first master's degree authorization point in Musicology (Ethnic Music Theory). Since its establishment, a group of internationally renowned artists and art educators such as Man Qianzi, Xu Beihong, Wu Bochao, Yang Taiyang, Chen Yanqiao, Chen Liang, Huang Dufeng, Zhu Peijun, Lu Huabo, and Li Zhishu have taught and conducted academic research here, laying a solid foundation and accumulating profound heritage for the university's development.

学校现有艺术学、设计学、新闻传播学等3个一级学科硕士学位授权点，美术与书法、音乐、设计、舞蹈、戏剧与影视、风景园林、新闻与传播等7个硕士专业学位授权点，40个本科专业，形成了较为完备的高等艺术教育体系，其中美术学、音乐与舞蹈学为广西一流学科，有国家级一流本科专业建设点10个、广西一流本科专业建设点4个、国家级实验教学示范中心1个、省级研究中心（基地）18个。下设音乐学院等16个教学单位，1所艺术研究院。坐落于南湖校区的广西民族音乐博物馆是民族地区第一家民族音乐博物馆，已成为展示广西民族音乐文化、东南亚音乐文化的重要平台。（数据统计截至2024年11月）

The university currently has 3 first-level discipline master's degree authorization points in Arts, Design, and Journalism and Communication, as well as 7 professional master's degree authorization points in Fine Arts and Calligraphy, Music, Design, Dance, Theater and Film, Landscape Architecture, and Journalism and Communication. It offers 40 undergraduate programs, forming a relatively complete higher art education system. Among them, Fine Arts and Music and Dance are first-class disciplines in Guangxi. The university has 10 national-level first-class undergraduate major construction sites, 4 Guangxi first-class undergraduate major construction sites, 1 national experimental teaching demonstration center, and 18 provincial-level research centers (bases). It has 16 teaching units including the School of Music, and 1 Art Research Institute. The Guangxi Ethnic Music Museum, located on the Nanhu Campus, is the first ethnic music museum in ethnic regions and has become an important platform for displaying Guangxi's ethnic music culture and Southeast Asian music culture.
