贵州商学院沿于1947年的贵阳市尚信高级会计职业学校，是贵州商科教育的发祥地。1952年，贵州省人民政府在此基础上整合商科教育资源组建贵州省贸易中等技术学校；1961年与贵州省粮食学校合并成立贵州省商业学校，开启贵州公办商科教育先河；1987年升格为贵州商业专科学校；1993年更名为贵州商业高等专科学校；2015年经教育部批准升格为普通本科院校，更名为贵州商学院。2018年由省商务厅划转省教育厅管理，成为贵州省第二批普通本科高校向应用型转型发展试点单位；2019年通过学士学位授权单位评估；2022年获批贵州省高校第二批三全育人综合改革试点高校；2023年通过教育部本科教学工作合格评估，同年获硕士学位授予单位立项建设。

Guizhou University of Commerce traces its roots to Guiyang Shangxin Senior Accounting Vocational School founded in 1947, the birthplace of商科 education in Guizhou. In 1952, the People's Government of Guizhou Province integrated商科 educational resources to establish Guizhou Provincial Trade Secondary Technical School on this basis; in 1961, it merged with Guizhou Provincial Grain School to form Guizhou Provincial Commercial School, pioneering public商科 education in Guizhou; in 1987, it was upgraded to Guizhou Commercial College; in 1993, it was renamed Guizhou Commercial College. In 2015, it was approved by the Ministry of Education to be upgraded to a regular undergraduate college and renamed Guizhou University of Commerce. In 2018, it was transferred from the Provincial Department of Commerce to the Provincial Department of Education and became the second batch of pilot units for transformation and development towards application-oriented ordinary undergraduate universities in Guizhou Province; in 2019, it passed the assessment of bachelor's degree authorization units; in 2022, it was approved as the second batch of pilot universities for comprehensive reform of three-full education in Guizhou Province; in 2023, it passed the qualification assessment of undergraduate teaching work by the Ministry of Education, and in the same year, it was approved for the project construction of a master's degree-granting unit.

学校坐落于贵州省贵阳市白云区，占地近千亩，教学科研设施先进，图书资源充足，生态环境优美、红色文化浓郁。以"商"为名，因商而建，依商而兴，秉承"尚信塑品 致用立身"校训，始终致力于培养应用型人才、服务地方经济与行业发展。建校以来扎根贵州大地办学，培养10万余名商科英才，被誉为"黔商摇篮"，为贵州经济社会发展作出积极贡献。

Located in Baiyun District, Guiyang City, Guizhou Province, the university covers an area of nearly 1,000 mu, with advanced teaching and research facilities, sufficient book resources, beautiful ecological environment and rich red culture. Named after "commerce", built because of commerce, and thriving on commerce, it adheres to the school motto of "Integrity Shapes Character, Application Builds Life", and has always been committed to cultivating applied talents and serving local economic and industrial development.
