广州体育职业技术学院（挂广州市体工队牌子）的前身为创办于1973年的广州市中心业余体校，1985年改制为广州市体育运动学校，1996年更名为广州市伟伦体育运动学校，同年广州市体工队并入学校。2004年3月，经广东省人民政府批准、教育部备案，升格为广州市人民政府举办的全日制高等体育职业院校，是唯一一所由省会城市举办的体育院校，致力于培养为国争光的高水平竞技体育人才和满足社会需要的高素质技术技能型体育人才。

Guangzhou Sports Vocational and Technical College (also known as Guangzhou Municipal Sports Work Team) traces its roots to the Guangzhou Central Amateur Sports School founded in 1973. It was restructured into Guangzhou Sports School in 1985 and renamed Guangzhou Weilun Sports School in 1996, when the Guangzhou Municipal Sports Work Team was merged into the school. In March 2004, approved by the People's Government of Guangdong Province and registered with the Ministry of Education, it was upgraded to a full-time higher vocational sports college sponsored by the Guangzhou Municipal People's Government. It is the only sports college run by a provincial capital city, dedicated to cultivating high-level competitive sports talents who win honors for the country and high-quality technical and skilled sports talents meeting social needs.

学院占地面积约259亩，校舍总建筑面积17.9万平方米，现设有9个管理机构、6个教学机构、8个教辅机构、1个附属机构以及14个项目运动队，在读高职学生、运动员4000余人。学院现有中高级职称102人、中级职称124人，拥有一支由世界冠军教练、全国体育事业突出贡献个人、全国优秀教师、全国技术能手等组成的高水平名师名教练队伍。学院荣获全国业余训练先进单位、全国体育事业突出贡献奖、全国群众体育先进单位等荣誉。

The college covers an area of approximately 259 mu (about 173,000 square meters) with a total building area of 179,000 square meters. It currently has 9 administrative agencies, 6 teaching institutions, 8 teaching support institutions, 1 affiliated institution, and 14 sports teams, with over 4,000 vocational college students and athletes. The college has 102 faculty members with senior professional titles and 124 with intermediate titles, forming a high-level team of renowned teachers and coaches including world champion coaches, individuals with outstanding contributions to national sports, national excellent teachers, and national technical experts. The college has been awarded honors such as the National Advanced Unit for Amateur Training, the National Outstanding Contribution Award for Sports, and the National Advanced Unit for Mass Sports.

经过多年发展，学院逐步构建十四年一贯制的体育人才培养体系，凝炼体教融合、学训一体的办学特色，实现竞技体育和职业教育双驱联动。学院是全国21个国家综合体育训练基地之一，连续4个周期被国家体育总局评为国家高水平体育后备人才基地，先后培养了10名奥运冠军、37名世界冠军，夺得世界冠军184人次。学院不断加强内涵建设，构建校政行企协同育人平台，是全国18所体育职业院校中仅有的两所省级示范院校之一，获得国家级教学成果二等奖等多项国家级成果，拓宽国际合作办学与交流，举办中芬体育运营与管理专业合作项目，与美国春田大学共建体育康复医院实训基地，与20多个国家及港澳台地区开展友好交流，提供训练竞赛、医疗康复等一体化服务。

After years of development, the college has gradually built a 14-year consistent sports talent training system, refining the school-running characteristics of integrating sports and education, and combining learning and training, realizing the dual-drive linkage of competitive sports and vocational education. It is one of the 21 national comprehensive sports training bases in China and has been rated as a National High-Level Sports Reserve Talent Base by the General Administration of Sport of China for four consecutive cycles. It has cultivated 10 Olympic champions, 37 world champions, and won 184 world championships. The college continuously strengthens connotation construction, builds a collaborative education platform involving schools, government, industries, and enterprises, and is one of the only two provincial demonstration colleges among the 18 national sports vocational colleges. It has won many national achievements such as the second prize of National Teaching Achievements. It has expanded international cooperative education and exchanges, hosting the China-Finland cooperative program in Sports Operation and Management, establishing a sports rehabilitation hospital training base with Springfield College in the United States, and carrying out friendly exchanges with more than 20 countries, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan regions, providing integrated services such as training competitions and medical rehabilitation.
