湖北体育职业学院始建于1978年，前身为湖北省体育运动学校，2010年经湖北省人民政府批准、2011年国家教育部备案升格为专科层次的高等职业学院，隶属湖北省体育局，是湖北体育系统唯一的高等职业教育办学单位。学院位于武汉市东湖新技术开发区，地处武汉·中国光谷黄金地段，占地面积532亩，毗邻三环线和地铁11号线，交通便利，背靠荷叶山，环境优美，是莘莘学子理想的求学之地。

Hubei Sports Vocational College was founded in 1978, formerly known as Hubei Provincial Sports School. In 2010, it was approved by the People's Government of Hubei Province and in 2011, it was filed by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China to be upgraded to a higher vocational college at the junior college level. Affiliated to the Hubei Provincial Sports Bureau, it is the only higher vocational education institution in the sports system of Hubei Province. The college is located in the East Lake New Technology Development Zone of Wuhan, in the prime location of Wuhan·China Optics Valley, covering an area of 532 mu. It is adjacent to the Third Ring Road and Metro Line 11, with convenient transportation. Backed by Heye Mountain, it has a beautiful environment and is an ideal place for students to study.

学院坚持以市场需求为导向，以体教融合为特色，以培养高素质体育专业技能人才为目标，走开放办学、特色办学、优质办学之路。近年来，伴随着健康中国、体育强省建设的春风，逐步发展成一所集体育高等职业教学、运动训练、社会培训、体育科研于一体的全日制高等职业学院。现为全国职业教育委员会成员单位、全国体校联合会理事单位、国家重点高水平体育后备人才基地、全国运动健康产教融合共同体常务理事单位、全国青少年足球菁英人才培养计划试点单位，湖北省全面深化体校建设61530行动计划入选单位，先后培养输送了高崚、廖辉、田涛、王晓理、田源等多名奥运冠军、世界冠军，为国家和湖北体育事业发展做出了重要贡献。

The college adheres to market demand as the orientation, integrates sports and education as the feature, aims to cultivate high-quality sports professional and technical talents, and takes the road of open education, characteristic education and high-quality education. In recent years, along with the spring breeze of building a Healthy China and a strong sports province, it has gradually developed into a full-time higher vocational college integrating sports higher vocational teaching, sports training, social training and sports scientific research. It is now a member unit of the National Vocational Education Committee, a director unit of the National Sports School Federation, a national key high-level sports reserve talent base, an executive director unit of the National Sports Health Industry-Education Integration Community, a pilot unit of the National Youth Football Elite Talent Training Program, and a selected unit of Hubei Province's 61530 Action Plan for comprehensively deepening the construction of sports schools. It has successively trained and transported many Olympic champions and world champions such as Gao Ling, Liao Hui, Tian Tao, Wang Xiaoli and Tian Yuan, making important contributions to the development of national and Hubei sports undertakings.
