湖北汽车工业学院坐落于湖北省十堰市，是全国唯一一所以汽车命名、最具汽车特色的公办普通高等院校，也是湖北省“园林式校园”“湖北省文明校园”。学校创建于1972年，前身为第二汽车制造厂工人大学，历经发展，于1983年更名为湖北汽车工业学院，1985年开始举办本科教育，2013年获批硕士学位授予权，2018年入选湖北省“国内一流学科建设高校”，2021年获批博士学位授予单位立项建设高校。

Hubei University of Automotive Technology is located in Shiyan City, Hubei Province. It is the only public ordinary institution of higher learning named after automobiles and with the most distinctive automotive characteristics in China. It is also a "Garden-style Campus" and "Civilized Campus of Hubei Province". Founded in 1972, the university was formerly known as the Worker's University of the Second Automobile Manufacturing Plant. After development, it was renamed Hubei University of Automotive Technology in 1983, began to offer undergraduate education in 1985, was approved as a master's degree-granting unit in 2013, was selected as a "domestic first-class discipline construction university" in Hubei Province in 2018, and was approved as a doctoral degree-granting unit for project construction in 2021.

学校以工为主，工、管、经、理、文、法、艺等多学科协调发展，形成了以汽车产业链为特色的学科专业体系。现有本科专业52个，其中国家级一流本科专业建设点15个，国家级特色专业3个，教育部“卓越工程师教育培养计划”专业3个；拥有一级学科硕士学位授权点12个，硕士专业学位授权类别14个，湖北省“国内一流建设学科”1个（机械工程）。

The university focuses on engineering, with coordinated development of multiple disciplines such as engineering, management, economics, science, literature, law, and art, forming a discipline and professional system featuring the automotive industry chain. Currently, there are 52 undergraduate majors, including 15 national-level first-class undergraduate major construction sites, 3 national-level characteristic majors, and 3 majors in the "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program" of the Ministry of Education; it has 12 first-level discipline master's degree authorization points, 14 master's professional degree authorization categories, and 1 "domestic first-class construction discipline" in Hubei Province (Mechanical Engineering).
