河北工程大学是河北省重点骨干大学，河北省人民政府与水利部共建高校，河北省重点支持的国内一流大学建设高校，河北省文明校园，博士学位授予单位。学校由原河北建筑科技学院、华北水利水电学院邯郸分部、邯郸医学高等专科学校、邯郸农业高等专科学校于2002—2003年合并组建而成。建校70余年来，传承发扬“崇德尚善、精工铸新”校训精神，培养了20余万毕业生，涌现出众多杰出专业技术人才和企业高管、政界精英。

Hebei University of Engineering is a key backbone university in Hebei Province, a joint university co-constructed by the People's Government of Hebei Province and the Ministry of Water Resources, a high-level university under key support for domestic first-class university construction in Hebei Province, a civilized campus in Hebei Province, and a doctoral degree-granting unit. The university was formed by the merger of the former Hebei University of Architecture and Technology, Handan Branch of North China Institute of Water Conservancy and Hydropower, Handan Medical College, and Handan Agricultural College during 2002-2003. Over more than 70 years since its establishment, it has carried forward the school motto spirit of "Advocating Virtue and Goodness, Exquisite Craftsmanship and Innovation", cultivated more than 200,000 graduates, and many outstanding professional and technical talents, corporate executives and political elites have emerged.

学科专业齐全，工程特色鲜明。现有21个教学单位，设有73个本科招生专业，涵盖工学、理学、管理学、农学、医学、文学、经济学、法学、艺术学、教育学、历史学等11个学科门类，其中国家级一流本科专业建设点14个，省级一流本科专业（建设点）32个，国家级一流本科课程14门、省级30门，通过工程教育（医学教育）认证专业11个、住建部评估专业4个。具备完整的学士-硕士-博士学位授权体系，拥有水利工程博士学位授权一级学科，17个硕士学位授权一级学科、17个硕士专业学位授权类别，1个博士后科研流动站。水利工程为河北省一流学科建设项目优先支持学科，地质资源与地质工程、机械工程为河北省一流学科建设项目重点培育学科。工程学、材料科学、环境/生态学3个学科进入ESI排名全球前1%。

It has a complete range of disciplines and distinctive engineering characteristics. Currently, there are 21 teaching units offering 73 undergraduate majors, covering 11 disciplines including engineering, science, management, agriculture, medicine, literature, economics, law, art, education, and history. Among them, there are 14 national first-class undergraduate major construction sites, 32 provincial first-class undergraduate major (construction sites), 14 national first-class undergraduate courses and 30 provincial ones. 11 majors have passed engineering education (medical education) accreditation, and 4 majors have passed the evaluation of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development. It has a complete bachelor-master-doctor degree authorization system, with a first-level discipline for doctoral degree authorization in Hydraulic Engineering, 17 first-level disciplines for master's degree authorization, 17 categories of master's professional degree authorization, and 1 post-doctoral research station. Hydraulic Engineering is a priority-supported discipline in Hebei Province's first-class discipline construction project, while Geological Resources and Geological Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering are key cultivation disciplines in Hebei Province's first-class discipline construction project. Three disciplines, namely Engineering, Materials Science, and Environment/Ecology, have entered the top 1% of ESI global rankings.

There is 1 national excellent teacher, 1 national university Huang Danian-style teacher team, 3 Hebei university Huang Danian-style teacher teams, 22 provincial excellent teaching teams, and 28 provincial teaching masters. The university has a building area of 784,500 square meters, with advanced teaching and research laboratories, and a total of 2.846 million paper books in the library collection. It has a campus network with 10-gigabit optical fiber backbone, gigabit to the desktop, and wireless coverage. The affiliated hospital is a tertiary first-class general hospital, and the affiliated school is an independent unit with separate staffing and funding.

科学研究与社会服务成果丰硕。近五年承担国家级科研项目76项，其中国家重点研发计划项目2项、国家自然科学基金重大研究计划项目1项、国家社会科学基金重点项目1项；省部级科研项目477项。获职务发明专利470项，发表SCI收录论文3529篇。获省部级科研奖励96项，其中河北省科技进步奖一等奖4项、自然科学奖一等奖1项、技术发明奖一等奖1项、社科优秀成果奖一等奖2项，水利部大禹水利科学技术奖（科技进步）、中国钢结构协会科学技术奖等行业科技奖励一等奖21项。建有国家级技术转移示范机构1个，教育部省部共建协同创新中心1个，省级人文社会科学研究基地4个，省级重点实验室、省级协同创新中心等省级科研平台60个。在雄安新区注册成立全国高校首家新型研发机构“雄安绿色水网和生命健康研究院”。主办《河北工程大学学报》自然科学版、社会科学版。

It has achieved fruitful results in scientific research and social services. In the past five years, it has undertaken 76 national-level scientific research projects, including 2 national key R&D plan projects, 1 major research plan project of the National Natural Science Foundation, and 1 key project of the National Social Science Foundation; 477 provincial and ministerial-level scientific research projects. It has obtained 470 invention patents, and published 3529 papers included in SCI. It has won 96 provincial and ministerial-level scientific research awards, including 4 first prizes of Hebei Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award, 1 first prize of Natural Science Award, 1 first prize of Technological Invention Award, 2 first prizes of Excellent Social Science Achievements Award, and 21 first prizes of industry scientific and technological awards such as the Dayu Water Conservancy Science and Technology Award (Science and Technology Progress) of the Ministry of Water Resources and the Science and Technology Award of China Steel Structure Association. It has 1 national technology transfer demonstration institution, 1 collaborative innovation center co-constructed by the Ministry of Education and the province, 4 provincial humanities and social sciences research bases, and 60 provincial scientific research platforms such as provincial key laboratories and provincial collaborative innovation centers. The first new R&D institution of national universities, "Xiong'an Green Water Network and Life Health Research Institute", was registered and established in Xiong'an New Area. It sponsors the Journal of Hebei University of Engineering (Natural Science Edition and Social Science Edition).
