河西学院是甘肃省属普通本科院校、硕士学位授予单位，发端于1941年创立的甘肃省立张掖师范学校，2001年升本改制为河西学院，2014年原张掖医学高等专科学校、张掖市人民医院并入，形成以师、农、医为主，多学科协调发展的办学格局。学校是教育部确定的复旦大学对口支援西部高校，教育部“师范教育协同提质计划”重点支持高校，教育部卓越农林人才教育培养计划改革试点院校，全国民族团结进步示范单位，2023年在甘肃省属应用型高校分类评价中排名第一。

Hexi University is a public undergraduate institution and a master's degree-granting unit in Gansu Province. Its origins date back to the Gansu Provincial Zhangye Normal School founded in 1941. It was upgraded to Hexi University in 2001 and expanded in 2014 through the merger of the former Zhangye Medical College and Zhangye People's Hospital, forming a multidisciplinary educational structure with strengths in teacher education, agriculture, and medicine. It is designated by the Ministry of Education as a western university supported by Fudan University, a key university in the "Normal Education Collaborative Quality Improvement Program", a pilot institution for the "Excellent Agricultural and Forestry Talents Education and Training Program", and a national model unit for ethnic unity and progress. In 2023, it ranked first in the classification evaluation of application-oriented universities in Gansu Province.

学校位于丝绸之路黄金段、河西走廊中部的国家级历史文化名城——张掖市，是兰州至乌鲁木齐近2000公里区间内唯一一所综合性普通本科院校。校园占地近4000亩，校舍面积71.28万平方米，教学科研仪器设备总值3.48亿元，馆藏纸质图书165.57万册。设有20个二级学院，72个本科专业，涵盖11个学科门类，现有各类在校学生21334人，教职工3213人，其中教授233人、副教授469人，具有博士学位教师占比25.44%。

The university is located in Zhangye, a national historical and cultural city in the middle of the Hexi Corridor on the golden section of the Silk Road, and is the only comprehensive undergraduate institution within the nearly 2000-kilometer interval from Lanzhou to Urumqi. The campus covers nearly 4000 mu (about 266.7 hectares) with a building area of 712,800 square meters. The total value of teaching and research equipment is 348 million yuan, and the library holds 1.6557 million paper books. It has 20 secondary colleges offering 72 undergraduate programs covering 11 disciplines, with a total enrollment of 21,334 students. The faculty consists of 3,213 staff, including 233 professors, 469 associate professors, and 25.44% of teachers holding doctoral degrees.
